Porta Nuova Building Milano, Italy by piuarch

Sunday, June 18th, 2017

Article source: piuarch

Like some sort of sinuous, white wave, the Porta Nuova Building fits in with the master plan for the urban redevelopment of the old railway station in Porta Nuova, Milan, situated between Corso Como, Garibaldi Station, the Isola neighbourhood and Piazza della Repubblica. This huge structure extends over a distance of 140 metres to create a structure covering a total of 16,500 m² designed for holding offices and shops. This powerful and, at the same time, lightweight, white coloured, glazed building serves a fundamental “urban purpose”: it hinges together the existing city and the latest dynamics triggered off by the entire Porta Nuova project, falling in line with the heights of the old buildings and embracing the square that is set higher level than the surrounding roads.

Pharmacy Don Bosco in Madrid, Spain by Héctor Fernández Elorza

Sunday, June 18th, 2017

Article source: Héctor Fernández Elorza

Carlos, the client told me: “the aim is, essentially, to make a simple pharmacy with a nice economic façade with personality and that it won’t give many problems with graffiti”.

The interior was painted white -so were the wooden shelves- and  some thin fluorescent tube fixtures were placed in line hanged from the ceiling with thin wires.

L’Architecture est dans le Pré in Vendée, France by Claas architectes

Sunday, June 18th, 2017

Article source: Claas architectes

Some projects are more particular than others, so when my brother asked me to design his house, the personal stakes were great. As a young farmer his financial supports are limited, but he has regular opportunities to build and maintain buildings on the farm. In most cases, they are made of metal fabrics delivered in kit. This know-how combined with its working time flexibility  allowed to conceive the project in self-construction.

The Roof House in Copenhagen, Denmark by Sigurd Larsen Design & Architecture

Sunday, June 18th, 2017

Article source: Sigurd Larsen Design & Architecture

Natural light is an essential element when you build in the Nordic countries. Indirect light has a beautiful cold blue color that reminds you of the proximity to the ocean. The low sun from south adds a warmer yellow light to the spectrum. The Roof House is designed to catch both indirect and direct sunlight at the same time and turn in into an ever-changing experience when walking through the sequence of rooms.

A perforated wall circumferes the house and creates different grades of privacy and windless outdoor spaces. The house is crowned by a roof of sloped surfaces towards all four corners of the world.

The Kamppi Chapel is located on the south side of the busy Narinkka square in central Helsinki. It offers a place to quiet down and compose oneself in one of Finland’s most lively urban spaces. With its curved wood facade, the small sacral building flows into the city scape. Simultaneously the chapels gently shaped interior space embraces visitors and shields them from the bustling city life outside.
