COPENHAGEN MODERN LIBRARY in Denmark by Selim Senin

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: Selim Senin

The main specialty of Danish culture is HYGGE. To reflect this cultural specialty on the project, spaces where people can spend time together, talk to each other, enjoy the scenery, make sportive activities, make presentations, and watch movies at night, etc. have been adopted. Three different routes have been planned to reach the terraces on which people can socialize. Our proposal is not merely a library to enter but a platform on which urban life keeps continuing thus a building which integrates with the city. As a response to classical repellant cognition of libraries, the building has a potential which can form an urban focus and where people would like to enjoy their day and night.

Richmond house by Newline Design

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: Newline Design

On a corner allotment with typical multiple additions, the task was to create a new family home with work, living and play areas and to facilitate art.

The addition needed to respect the location and the original structure but also had to introduce new areas, which would be far more fluid and flexible than the traditional period stock would normally allow.

KAYAK CLUB in CELJE, SLOVENIA by GRIL KIKELJ ARHITEKTI

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: GRIL KIKELJ ARHITEKTI

The afternoon sunlight illuminates the top of AnskiVrh hill and reflects off the surface of the rather fast Savinja River. The river is surrounded by cliffs, occasionally creating whitewater sections suitable for kayaking. People from the town of Celje are walking along the Savinja walkways. Rivet banks in any urban habitat are areas of great architectural interest, especially where urban path s and roads connect with the river environment. Those are precious locations where rivers form bays and cape s, forks or basins. Accompanied by the appropriate architectural elements, such places refine the urban area. This is also the case with the new kayak club construction on a river promontory in Celje, built after the old club premises were burnt down.

Article source: Brink Licht

The Maagdenhuys is a true Amsterdam landmark. The idea was to create a focal point once you are inside the square atrium of the University. For this purpose 36 spheres (Ø 80 cm e Ø 120 cm) were placed in the restaurant to be visible from the entrance of the building through large arched windows and to create a warm welcoming atmosphere and creating depth in the building.

House in Nichinan, Japan by TAKESHI ISHIODORI ARCHITECTURE

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: TAKESHI ISHIODORI ARCHITECTURE

A wooden house of the box type built in Nichinan-shi, Miyazaki.
Control of its eyes was a problem because there was an unmanned railroad station on the south side.
A living room was established in the 2nd floor and the eyes from a home in the station were exchanged.
Though the exterior material was simple as urethane painting finishing in the material as \”wrap siding\” which came into fashion before, I aimed at the symbolic outward appearance from location as the house built in front of the station.

House F in Tainan City, Taiwan by URBANWASABI

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: URBANWASABI

This renovation project is surrounded by highly populated residential area and open view of urban green. At the beginning, we discovered existing structural issues, and started design process to untangle structural requirements alone with architectural programming simultaneously. To provide an uninterrupted circulation, the center staircase was relocated and allowed generous, looped path to access second floor via original staircase.

CALDO in Mizonokuchi, Japan by Doyle Collection co.ltd., Aiji Inoue

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: Doyle Collection co.ltd., Aiji Inoue

CALDO is a national chain fitness facility where customers casually enjoy Hot Yoga, Fitness, Pilates and Pressurizing Training. There are mixtures of “stillness” and “motion” in the programs. One of our challenges was how to design the individual space with the surrounding relations. As principle axis, we decided to use “COLORS” that will associate psychologically when customers enter the facility.
