Tuesday, June 14th, 2016

Article source: ARQUITECTURIA

The Museum of Energy is located at the surroundings of Ascó, next to the river Ebro. The museum swings between public and private, between the river and the topography and between the urban grid and landscape. Because of this, one of the aims of the project was to reconfigure the site understanding its BOUNDARY condition.

House T in Tokyo, Japan by Hiroyuki Shinozaki Architects

Monday, June 13th, 2016

Article source: Hiroyuki Shinozaki Architects

This is a residence and atelier for a couple in the center of Tokyo. The building area is small, because of its size and flag shape. It needed to design the house using effectively height direction, so we designed the house as a bookshelf. The floors like bookshelf plates are placed at the different level in the deformed box. And furniture is put on the each shelf-floor to create living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom. In the big volume, floating life places expand with 360 degree view. Life places are connected each other in and out of shadow varying distance in tree dimension. This means life places are opened planar and cross-sectional, while they are divided. Concerning structural aspect, each shelf-floor is hooked up to the shelf-frame, which composed of columns and beams three-dimensionally. This structure system gives latitude for space composition. And the shelf frame works not only as the structural parts but also as the fixture supporting life places. On one place it is used as handrail or threshold, on the other place it is used as book-shelf or wardrobe. The way of using depends on the situation. Lightings hung from top of the box till the each floors to illuminate them such as a floating stage. The daily life itself is stored on a small residence like big furniture.

Calypso House in Jouneih Bay, Lebanon by SOMA Architects

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

Article source: SOMA Architects

New York-based architects SOMA delivered an outstanding private residence located on the north side of Jouneih Bay, Lebanon.

It is a significant milestone for a project whose design plunges into the sea, Calypso hovers over the water like a crystal emerging from the rocks. Nestled on a small strip of rugged rocks between the main road and the sea, the form of the house is derived directly from this ragged landscape.

Nook Residence in Mansonville, Canada by MU Architecture

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

Article source: v2com

Located in a quiet area of the Eastern Townships in Quebec, the Nook Residence sits in continuity with the landscape in which it is part. Turning its back to the street, it offers a virtually blind facade that encourages discovery and piques curiosity. Strategically located openings and a large gap in the white mass give a hint at the beautiful scenery below as we approach the building.

HG House is a house on the beach for my parents, for them it was very important that the house could receive all the family and guests and also to function at a reduced size when they were alone.

KINDERGARTEN in Brasília, Brazil by ceu arquitetos

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

Article source: ceu arquitetos

The project proposes a volumetric “home”, based on the characteristic features of children’s drawings. The goal is to rescue the home of senses: welcome, belonging and familiarity. The student complex, divided into blocks or “houses”, aims to change the concept of school building and become a landscape in its own right, a metaphor for the playhouse or even a small town. The school becomes a symbol for the neighborhood for having a playful feature that differentiates it from other buildings. The warmly of the “houses” invites us to live our dreams, introducing a bit of fantasy to routine life not only of children but of the entire neighborhood; as well as inspire our lives with a little poetry.

Saturday, June 11th, 2016

Article source: Martin Dulanto Arquitecto

This project takes part of a personal exploration where different blocks and the vacuum generated between them are the protagonists.

The volume was proposed as a large white box that has been excavated and within which appear different “buckets” with various materials (wood, exposed concrete, etc.).
