Casa MM in Jalisco, México by ELÍAS RIZO ARQUITECTOS

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: ELÍAS RIZO ARQUITECTOS

Casa MM Casa presented an unusual challenge for us. Two brothers who owned a considerable stretch of land in Tapalpa approached us with the intention of building two separate houses. As we dug into the project’s needs we realized that both of our clients had similar needs and while they didn’t mind, and in fact preferred, that the houses share a common language, each one had to convey its own singular personality. The topography of the site imposed its own set of variables that resulted in further slight alterations in the design of each house.

Palacio de Hierro Antea Façade in Queretaro, Mexico by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos

The classical department store is defined by a strict physiognomy: a box with four façades. This constraint was the principal challenge to be overcome in the project. Dematerializing the material was the guiding concept used to create diffuse limits based on the horizontality of the solid and void elements to achieve an effect of floating layers.

White Shining Objects 2014 in Copenhagen, Denmark by Simon Hjermind Jensen / SHJWORKS

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source:  Simon Hjermind Jensen

“We do not know” was the common answer to the passersby, given by Shjworks while they were installing the project and were asked what it was. And it was true; Shjworks could not exactly tell what it was. They knew the project consisted of five white shining objects placed along a stretch of 400 m in the suburb of Husum just outside Copenhagen. They knew the objects would be illuminated from dusk till dawn, and they knew the height of the objects would vary from 4,2 m to 0,6 m. They also knew the project was the winning entry for a competition about urban spaces, arranged by the Copenhagen municipality. Together with the objects they included 7 benches, 3 planters and 95 step stones.

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: Charles Alexious Interior Design & Architecture

Located near Syntagma Square, the central square of Athens, adjacent to The Parliament House and at the foot of the Parthenon, this seven (7) storey building was built in the early 1960s and started life as an office building with retail showroom on the ground floor.  The site was bought in its entirety and converted to a boutique hotel in response to the shortage of hotel rooms and the growing need for quality affordable holiday accommodation in central Athens.

The brief required interior architecture, interior design, interior decorating, styling and restoration capabilities.

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: franz zt gmbh Architekten

Old becomes new
The task comprised restructuring and extending the old school for forest wardens from the 1970s in order to create a contemporary educational institution. the old residential wing was demolished because of the building’s structure and its low ceiling height. the concrete rubble was used as subgrade for the new building. The classroom wing and the gym hall could be preserved and were expanded by another set of classrooms and a large gym hall. the four building parts are grouped equitably around the new one-storey centre of the school.

Fernando House in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka by D plus architects

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Article source: D plus architects

This house is located in a sub-urban area 1.5Km from Moratuwa City. Foot print is about 4200 sq.ft.

‘Court Yard House’ Residence for Fernando Family at Moratuwa

IT is a strong belief of the architect; that architecture is there to capture the ‘moods’…. ‘Moods’ that are pronounced by the lifestyle of the users of space; ‘moods’ that are dictated by the surroundings on which the building is to be erected… ‘Moods’ that last the lifespan of the building. Thus the design defies the boundaries of ‘modern’ and ‘traditional’; and instead concentrates on a language to reflect the ‘real’ ‘moods’ noticed by the architect, on their merits.

Article source: PplusP Designers

The principle concept established for this project at the Mandarin Oriental in Macau, is to embody tranquility at its essence through capturing the elements of nature.

The Tree is symbolic of being protective, sheltering and being able to nurture life-giving energy. The idea is to allow its occupants to enter a nature-inspired living space, where they could feel relaxed and safe within the comfort of their own home.

Walking through the entrance door reveals a welcoming feeling of freshness with leaves are blowing and swaying towards the ceiling.
