Impala House in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Friday, April 14th, 2017

Article source: Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Impala House is a box, a big container, built in the forest of Cariló, in front of a forest reserve. The residence indirectly touches the terrain with a plinth that nestles the services.

The lot, which presents a strong transversal change of level, inspired a spacious public plan that takes full advantage of the terrain. From the top of it, the landscape dominates the views and then melts away with the lot in the solarium/swimming pool.

The Maringo Restaurant project is born from the need to create a dynamic space that tries to escape from formalisms.

Friday, April 14th, 2017

Article source: h2o architectes

The R buildings concerned by our rehabilitation project are located in the lower part of the site of the Cartoucherie at Bourg-les-Valence, listed as a Historic Monument. The first phase of the work led by the town and the architect Philippe Prost allowed for the rehabilitation of the principal building with its fine architectural qualities and of the courtyard, which were both in a ruinous state. This important building of our heritage was, in 2009, transformed into a place of creation with the opening of a new major center for quality film animation.

Atlas House in Eindhoven, The Netherlands by MONADNOCK

Thursday, April 13th, 2017

Article source: MONADNOCK

The Atlas House is situated on the edge of the city of Eindhoven, opposite a historic rural estate. The compact square building manifests itself as a tower. It is rotated 45 degrees relative to the street and is detached from the boundaries of the plot. All windows are grouped around the corners and at times allow for diagonal views through the volume. Internally, the rotation provides striking vistas along the edges of the forest. The depth of the façade openings reveals that the size and colour of the bricks is the same both inside and outside. These define the character of the raw and restrained interior. The external facades offer no clues about the playful offsets of the internal spaces. The interior reveals a collection of rooms of various heights and floor levels, each giving their respective window openings specific characteristics.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Corporate Offices in Victoria, Australia by k20 Architecture

Thursday, April 13th, 2017

Article source: k20 Architecture

Located in the rural setting of Nhill, Victoria, Hindmarsh Shire Council Corporate Offices is a technologically advanced Corporate Civic and Administration Centre with Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles at the core of the building’s design intent.

Completed in 2014 the precinct re-uses the existing 1960’s building and encapsulates it within its new contemporary built form. The building was inspired by the town’s identity as a hub of wheat production with steel storage silos and agricultural sheds dotting the landscape. The centre’s form and restrained material palette of timber, steel and glass gives subtle references to the local agricultural context; utilising the craftsmanship of the folded metal inherent in the silos in the form of locally sourced steel and zinc finishes along the building’s exterior.
