Kebony Brings Interactive Landscaping to Copenhagen, Denmark

Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Article source: Kebony

The historic ramparts at Vestvolden, Copenhagen, have been given another lease of life as the defining feature within the large municipal park. Designed by VEGA architects to bring the incredible story of the region’s history to life, “Play on the ramparts” is situated on the old fortifications, introducing play and movement to this historical landscape. Visitors to the expansive and undulating park are greeted by three thematic education stations installed in and amongst the physical remnants of a bygone era. The stations, in one small corner of the park, are designed to create a bridge between past and present, using traditional materials with a modern, sustainable twist, such as Kebony’s sustainable alternative to tropical wood.

MEDIOMUNDO arquitectos believe in the development of an intelligent architecture: one that stimulates and integrates the broad values and technological and cultural conditions of the place where it belongs. As architects working in innovation, they fled the standard to travel between the logic of creative production and industrial production. Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Article source: STUDIO ARTHUR CASAS

Part of Italian group ENEL Brasil, aiming Rio’s 2016 Olympics and the challenges of energy and water supply in Brazil, started with the support of Rio’s universities and the city of Niteroi, the project N.O.V.A. (which stands for We Live Tomorrow Now, in Portuguese). It sought to seek alternatives to answer contemporary concerns on sustainability, flexibility and adaptation of architecture to present and future challenges. It is not about forging concepts for a theoretical future; on the contrary, the objective is to break the cliché of a house that never becomes reality and to propose concrete evolving schemes. Existing technologies and behavioral patterns guided the project and the engagement in bringing collective consciousness for problems requiring alternative social behaviors.

Vives university college – campus Bruges in Belgium by SAR architecten

Sunday, November 8th, 2015

Article source: SAR architecten

In the Middle Ages, Bruges had two big ambitions: to have a sea port and a university, fine ambitions that the magnificent old city could barely realize despite its many efforts. During history Antwerp and Ghent took over the leading roles in those matters and Bruges became during three centuries ‘Bruges la morte’. However at the end of the 20th century Bruges is the 3rd seaport of the BENELUX, and in 2009 the VIVES University College was built, associated to the well known ‘University of Louvain’.
