Article source: FORMAT ELF ARCHITEKTEN

German studio Format Elf Architekten has designed three holiday cottages for a resort in the Bavarian countryside that resemble archetypal pitched-roof barns.
The owners of the Hofgut estate, which offers luxury accommodation, dining and spa facilities, asked Format Elf Architekten to create the houses for guests looking to stay for longer periods than the existing facilities allowed.

Gomba, Móricz Zsigmond körtér, in Budapest, Hungary by Hetedik Műterem Ltd.

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

Article source: Hetedik Műterem Ltd

The construction of the transportation-related building on Móricz Zsigmond Circus, Budapest was completed in 1943, according to the design of József Schall; and because of its shape later it was identified as the “Mushroom” by the word of mouth. Originally a departure building, cash- and waiting room and a café were placed in three building sectors under the roof with a ring-shaped layout. A fountain stood in the middle of the ring (stone relief by László Szomor). Shortly after its completion the building was roughly converted, transformers were placed into one of its circle sectors. The structure has started to be a slum-like environment already in the ’70s. For its particular spatial space composition and extremely slim reinforced concrete details it has been recorded as a listed building under monumental protection since 1997.

Article source: N MAEDA ATELIER

Our recent residential project ORANGE is intended to realize a space where children can touch the raw world with their innate, pure sensitivity.

The concept has its root in my personal absorption in phenomenological and ontological spatial studies during college.

JOAN MARAGALL LIBRARY in Barcelona, Spain by BCQ arquitectura barcelona

Wednesday, July 30th, 2014

Article source: BCQ arquitectura barcelona

The main decision has been to construct the new building under the old existing garden and not to occupy a part of this space. The motto with which the project was presented in the ideas competition was “Garden of Light”. These two words sum up the two ideas of the project: maintaining and improving the existing garden, while at the same time providing joyful and well lit spaces. The library inserts under the garden of Vil∙la Florida civic center under the shade of its trees. Inside, a landscape in itself, articulated and changing, where each use and each user find their place. It is a personalized and unique space.

The house is located in LoCurro, a residential area of Santiago, Chile. The area has some hills and forest, with a great view of the city of Santiago. The design strategy is based on a 7 x 25 meter rectangle, located over an existing parking space.

The ground level of the house is a continuous space than contains the family area, living room, dining room, kitchen and an interior courtyard. The bedrooms are located in the first floor, and there is a rooftop terrace on the top of the house.

Lunel and Sète offer two new museums to the Languedoc Roussillon region in France By C+D ARCHITECTURE

Wednesday, July 30th, 2014

Article source: C+D ARCHITECTURE

The recently opened Médard Museum in Lunel and the Maritime Museum in Sète are now part of a wide choice of cultural visits offered in Languedoc Roussillon. The region has supported the towns in the financing of these cultural amenities. Benefiting from new funds, the two museums stand out  from the rest because of the way their architecture has been restored – they are both diametrically opposite in historical terms – and because of the content of their respective collections.
