Studio 3 in Delhi, India by ARCHITECTURE DISCIPLINE

Friday, September 21st, 2018

Article source: ARCHITECTURE DISCIPLINE

As the studio enters its teenage years of existence, it demanded a fun yet “architecturally charged” environment to conduct business. Moving out of a busy commercial surrounding to a quiet piece of land amidst blooming mustard fields hidden within the commotion, that is Delhi. It can be challenging to locate the studio; placed within the quaint boulevards lined with ficus foliage often hindering views to the randomly placed non-descriptive black gates. However, the gate has a “white” google pin for the curious eyes.

EH&I Pavilion 2015 in Amsterdam, Netherlands by i29 interior architects

Friday, September 21st, 2018

Article source: i29 interior architects

i29 interior architects designed a pavilion for the dutch magazine Eigen Huis & Interieur during the annual design fair in RAI Amsterdam. With an architectural installation i29 strived to make a spatial experience for the visitors that surprises; an environment that should be discovered step by step.

The ‘house’ has been reduced to the essence; open and closed surfaces, walls and volumes, sight lines. Contrast in color and specular surfaces are playing with the perception of space. Mirrored volumes are hiding display cases which include compressed worlds which refer to living. The contrast between the ‘emptiness’ of the pavilion itself and the richly decorated display cases reinforce each other. The powerful simplicity of the pavilion makes it a place for contemplation amidst the abundance of products at the fair.

INELTRON Office in A Coruña, Spain by as-built ARQUITECTURA

Friday, September 21st, 2018

Article source: as-built ARQUITECTURA

Our challenge was to create an emblematic space for the electric company INELTRON, out of a dark and narrow establishment, which would act as a corporate image, projecting a modern look to the future clients. We started working on the project by focusing on making as much wide open space as possible – most of the dividing walls were demolished – so that natural light from the courtyard could flow throughout the whole interior.

A Place Where You not Only Shop…

Eye-D designed by Ofist in Istanbul, is not just a shop, but a multi purpose venue… It’s a blogger spot, a meeting point, an art gallery, a coffee shop or a music venue… More importantly, it is a human experience based space. A place where you not only shop, but involve in other experiences, being aware of your surrounding and valuing it.

Eye-d is not just designed to be an optical shop. No business is just the business itself anymore. Everything is social. We can not neglect today’s facts when even sitting at home by yourself can be a social media product.

King Bill in Melbourne, Australia by Austin Maynard Architects

Thursday, September 20th, 2018

Article source: Austin Maynard Architects

King Bill is a love letter to Fitzroy. King Bill is a collage of Fitzroy’s built history, its textures, its forms, its order and its chaos.

The high land values of Fitzroy would encourage many  owners to add as much building as possible. Not so for the owners of King Bill. They sought to give something back to the suburb they love. They sought to create a new pocket park.

In A Nutshell

Located in the vibrant back streets of Fitzroy, Melbourne, King Bill is the renovation and extension of a double story terrace house and neighbouring garden. The house (one of 5 terraces built circa 1850) and its eastern garden were initially separate lots that were recently consolidated onto a single title. Recognising the importance and heritage significance of the area, as well as the rich eclectic nature of the location, the terrace facade remains untouched. A glazed corridor now runs along the eastern outer wall of the original terrace, linking the original house with the stable (garage and parents retreat) and the new pavilion, which houses kitchen, living and dining.

Blueys Beach House 5 in Australia by Bourne Blue Architecture

Thursday, September 20th, 2018

Article source: Bourne Blue Architecture

Blueys Beach is a popular holiday destination, on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia.

The original houses in this coastal village are simple fibro or weatherboard structures. They are weather beaten and basic,  yet they generally offer a relaxing beach holiday experience.  Unfortunately, when properties change hands, original buildings are often replaced by large suburban houses, which have little recognition of place and relate poorly to the immediate context

This house was designed on an empty but narrow (12m x 42m) block. The site slopes gently down to the rear, and there are established houses on neighboring blocks.

Dongshang in Beijing, China by Imafuku Architects

Thursday, September 20th, 2018

Article source: Imafuku Architects

Dongshang is a contemporary Japanese restaurant with wide selections of Sake and Japanese whisky located in central Beijing. The restaurant consists of a dining hall with a bar counter and two private rooms. The client requests to design a Japanese restaurant also appearing Chinese style at the same time.

In response to the demand, a bamboo is developing into the entire space in different forms. The significant material is traditionally used in various ways in Japan as well as China. Bamboo strips fixed on walls are folded at the ceiling, and they make tunnel-like spaces enclosed with bamboos at two of hallways. The light passing through the bamboo strips of the ceiling like sunshine filtering through the trees illumined the bamboo walls. The dining hall is also surrounded by the bamboo walls expanding from two hallways located on both sides of the dining hall. 3cm diameter bamboos are put together at the ceiling makes a roof over the dining hall creating a sense of intimacy. Illuminated liquor bottles are displayed on shelve plates made with black steel at a backbar featuring the vertical bamboo louvers. The element with strong connections to both of Japanese and Chinese cultures and traditions is iteratively highlighted in the restaurant.
