NEELSUTRA: The India Fashion Store in The Oberoi Gurgaon, India by Architecture Discipline

Thursday, August 21st, 2014

Article source: Architecture Discipline

Designed as a first in a series of multi-designer pret stores, where the collections are themed and curated, Neel Sutra- the India Fashion store is emblematic of Indian Design ethos.

Sited at The New Oberoi Hotel in the suburban abode of NCR- Gurgaon, the hotel spawns a high-end luxury international experience. The brief was to create a unique and distinct design ambience that would be conspicuous within the context of other established global hi-design brands at the hotel and elsewhere in the vicinity. The customized and curated store, emblematic of Indian Fashion is conceived within this international collective construct as a step ahead of conventional high street retail to showcase a motley bunch of Indian fashion designers.Contemporary design in India usually expresses the complexity in Indian Design discourse with kitsch. The India Fashion Store is a cognizant attempt to stay away from Indian Kitsch, and instead craft a sacred space.

Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands by Erick van Egeraat

Thursday, August 21st, 2014

Article source: Erick van Egeraat

The most important aspect of Erick van Egeraat’s design for the new entrance and extension of the Drents Museum is the consistent integration of the museum into the fabric of the city. A balanced play of building, landscape and water, creates a new identity for the extended museum, emphasizing both the scenic character and the cultural-historic face of the city centre of Assen. The new exhibition wing covers 2 000m², all under ground. Its staggered, organic roof consists of a public garden that connects the existing city parks. Openings in the roof allow daylight to enter the exhibition spaces below.

South 50/53 Apartments in Dhaka, Bangladesh by Shatotto – Architecture for Green Living

Thursday, August 21st, 2014

Article source: Shatotto – Architecture for Green Living

This two-apartment block is “one of a kind” design by Shatotto responding to the new “building construction rules for Dhaka – 2006”. Such rules require a fifty percent mandatory free ground coverage and a maximum building height of 45.73 meter.

The agreement between the estate developer and the landowner has been to make two towers – one for the land owner and the other one for the developer. This sets off the first criteria of the design. The site facing two roads on the south and the west ensures the maximum day light round the year as well as intense wind flow during summer. since both the blocks are getting western daylight each day, protruded verandas and gardens evolved in the design to safeguard the window glasses to not let the heat seep inside the apartment.

Article source: Kotaro Horiuchi Architecture

Exhibition Kotaro Horiuchi 2014 “Fusionner 3.0”
From the 7th of May to the 10th of June 2014 there were the exhibit of Kotaro Horiuchi’s project called « Fusionner 3.0 » 2014 at Shukutoku University of Aichi’s gallery.

Fusionner
« Fusionner » comes from a French word meaning « to merge ». The architecture merge in the town just like renovations merge into inside space. Everything happens without imposing in the place. The most important thing is the inside of those places, the content with someone, or should we say, a group of people who will be actors of the activities that will take place in that space. To emphasise on those activities, the existence of architectural place or a place, which evolve smoothly, is necessary.

DI_Telegraph in Moscow, Russia by Archiproba

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Archiproba

The Central Telegraph is located on Tverskaya street in the center of Moscow. Architect Ivan Rerberg constructed the building in 1927, and it took only several decades for it to become an architectural monument. The Telegraph has an unusual perimeter structure with both modernist and constructivist features; its surprising geometry and broad glazing distinguishes the building against a background of the Stalinist empire style of that era.
