The church of S. Tiago de Antas is built in a privileged place with views over the natural landscape and the center of the local town. The building is integrated side by side and harmoniously with the past, which gives it a distinct character and reference for the community, especially for all who cultivate the faith.
The elaboration of the proposal was preceded of a study of the location of surrounding spaces and the integration of the building in the site location. It was not simply limited to the study of an organized implantation in the land site but also an intense study of the history and religious activities associated to the locality. Its implantation works as a unifying element of the existing spaces in the surrounding, such as the Romanesque church (classified as Property of Public Interest since 1958), the mortuary chapel and the cemetery.
The task to move the Czech Promotion communication agency in a mere three months from the famous Winternitz Villa by Adolf Loos to the unreconstructed premises of Karlín Palace with its own, albeit not as famous, history seemed fatuous, even naïve at first. Yet it was the time pressure which shaped the design itself, as well as the method of collaboration with the client and contractors. Purely a concept specified and defined the start of the process, leading to the overall unified vision, which prevented any subsequent disagreements or delaying discussions over individual parts of the proposal. Therefore, the extremely rapid establishment of absolute trust was required between the two parties. Such an approach was risky, but at the same time intensely motivating to all involved persons.

Designed in the early 1980s, this country house was completed in 2014, two years after the death of its author, Architect Paulo Bastos, in 2012. Built in Sapucaí-Mirim, a city located by Serra da Mantiqueira, a mountain range that separates the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, the residence was inserted in a natural glade into the woods. The location was carefully chosen by the author, in absolute respect and harmony with the existing vegetation, abundant in Araucárias, large trees indigenous of this mountainous region.

When thinking about “window”, I thought that “cross section” of “window” had infinite possibility, decided to consider again from the composition of the window. The window can be seen as observing that the physical role is a determinant of its composition, but the “window” which is the boundary between the inside (architectural space) and the outside (earth space) is taken as “section” Looking at “cross section” with a microscope and gazing at it, you can find a lot of “whereabouts” like “edge side” there. There is an important role that connects the inside (architectural space) and the outside (the earth space), and at the same time, the place where the neighboring side has an important place to connect “people and architecture” “people and the earth” and “people and people”.
This transformation from utilitarian industrial building to attractive office environment required a change from hard and functional to soft and friendly. A representative environment that is welcoming for guests, while simultaneously providing a safe and clear overview of all the heavy clay works in the factory. The phenomenon of the ‘Tent Room’, as found in old country houses, was an important reference point for this transformation.
