Mirante House in São Paulo, Brazil by FGMF

Friday, October 27th, 2017

Article source: FGMF

Since first studies, the site determined the residence’s conception logic. Some site characteristics are especially remarkable: wide lot with slightly variable width and sharp slope. In its north end there’s a beautiful view of the artificial lake. The neighbors’ houses provoke shade and a feeling of lack of privacy on both sides of the site’s highest area.

Skylight Tower in La Défense, Paris by Louis Paillard architect & urban planner

Friday, October 27th, 2017

Article source: Paillard architect & urban planner

“The opportunity to build apartments at La Défense remains a rare one. All the more so an apartment tower (top floor at 50 m). In fact, some thirty years have passed since the building of the last one. The district of La Défense, willed into existence by General de Gaulle to show the world of the 1960s that France was entering into the modern world of finance and business (the famous “Trente Glorieuses” or thirty-year post-war boom), is a curious above-ground urban mixture, an artificial island, veritable realm of “corporate architecture” punctuated by multitude of high-rise office towers, business centers, rather hollow official monuments, shopping centers and a few public housing complexes, the whole placed atop an immense, windswept concrete slab and irrigated from below by a labyrinth of vehicular arteries, railway tunnels among other piped networks.

Article source: Thaipanstudio

As Mr. Nueng told us ‘Do whatever to make it involved to the BUTTERFLY concept.”

We surveyed through this residence. Which inside has been adjusting for many times, And some materials still have its own charm. That make we think that if we could turn back time to the 80s , this place would be really attractive.

L’Autre Vie in Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium by Juma architects

Friday, October 27th, 2017

Article source: JUMA architects

JUMA was asked to accommodate a restaurant in an Art Deco house. Although the exterior suggests otherwise, there were only a few elements that were worth saving in the interior. Only the monumental wooden staircase with a beautifully coloured stained-glass window above it, reflect the grandeur that this property once offered. First a number of walls were taken down to create larger spaces. An opening was created from the entrance hall to the kitchen so that visitors have a direct view of chef Maxence Sys at work.

HSB Kvillebäcken in Sweden by KJELLGREN KAMINSKY ARCHITECTURE

Thursday, October 26th, 2017

Article source: KJELLGREN KAMINSKY ARCHITECTURE

Östra Kvillebäcken is designed as a dense and vibrant neighbourhood with a strong focus on sustainability. Therefore, it is a Miljöbyggnad Silver certified neighborhood. Our buildings find inspiration in the inner city and its urban qualities. Artistic decoration related to the location and material treatment gives the buildings their own contemporary identity. The Housing estate forms a green oasis with islands of activity. There are natural meeting places with different themes along the pathway that leads visitors through the neighborhood. The communal hall is a place for celebration, overnight stay or meetings. Adjacent to this room is also a communal facility in the yard with laundry area and space for socializing. The homes are generally space efficient with few awkward spaces. In the design, we have worked with basic architectural qualities: axiality, room connection and views-through.

Cocktail Bar Brera Milan in Italy by SBG architetti

Thursday, October 26th, 2017

Article source: SBG architetti

Damascegliere is a restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of the Brera district in Milan. The conversion, in a two-floor brick vaulted warehouse-type building, has large windows overlooking the now glamourous Corso Garibaldi. The design concept for the restaurant is built around two long counters where clients can sit facing either the barman or the chef at work. The outdoor table has the same peninsula-shaped counter giving a continuity between the two spaces. On warm days the arched window opens up to make the inside of the restaurant completely accessible from the pedestrian road. The kitchen is partially visible through semitransparent glass. New services have been installed leaving the brick vaults untouched; a sophisticated air circulation system provides the possibility of keeping different functions such as the bar and kitchen in the same environment as the main seating area. In the basement the absence of windows and natural light is compensated by luminous shelves and mirrors over a continous padded bench.
