Article source: Coo Planning

It is built in the residential section where the traditional row-house in Osaka remains. The plan is completed while considering how available light would be taken in in the conditions on which the methods of three are sandwiched by the neighboring house, and the residence is built by the other side on a narrow front road.

Thursday, September 18th, 2014

Article source: Adam Sokol

The site of the Emperor Hotel, Qianmen was once occupied by a public bath and so the spirit of bathing and mystery will live on in the new hotel. The design is organized not by spaces and circulation but by emotions and dreams; not by materials and details but by illusions and memories. From the l’Occitane Spa below ground to Beijing’s largest hotel roof bar above, the Emperor will offer visitors and residents alike a new public space and a new experience of the historic city.

Regiocentrale Zuid in Dutch-Belgian, Netherlands by Wiel Arets Architects

Thursday, September 18th, 2014

Article source: Wiel Arets Architects

Situated in Maasbracht–near the Dutch-Belgian border–this sinuous 1.850 m2 office is a headquarters for the water traffic control of surrounding sluices, canals, and locks–all of which are adjacent to the river Meuse. This plethora of entangled waterways is heavily utilized for shipping throughout this area, at the confluence of France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Numerous previously disparate waterway control centers were combined to create this new office, and this regrouping determined its primary, curvilinear volume. This elevated polygonal shape strengthens visibility from the interior toward the immediate landscape, by allowing for elongated views in all 360-degrees.

Nanxiang Mall in Shanghai, China by Girimun Architects

Thursday, September 18th, 2014

Article source: Girimun Architects

This lifestyle shopping mall is located at the fringe of a compound of high-rise apartments and serves the residents of a high-end suburb of Shanghai built around a giant man-made artificial lake. Originated at the lake, a canal waterfront system of pedestrian-friendly walkways culminates on this plot. The design is therefore driven by the integration between indoor and outdoor spaces where the retail experience extends itself from the main building onto sunken squares, pavilion restaurants, signage towers and feature canopies.

Article source: Daycare Nursery and collective housing

The founding act of the project begins with the landscape.  It is rare in Paris to be able to take advantage of panoramic views without vis-à-vis.  Yet here the site overlooks two distant landscapes:  the city and the suburbs.
