Temporary School Gymnasium in Massa Finalese, Italy by MIDE architetti + Paolo Didonè

Saturday, May 10th, 2014

Article source: MIDE architetti + Paolo Didonè

Following the 2012 earthquake that struck Emilia Romagna a competition was announce to rebuild a destroyed school gymnasium in Massa Finalese.

The site, which is located in the north-east side of a school park, is the border between the urban area and the country side, suggesting the new building to be the new “connecting tool” between these two realities.

The main focus is to create a structure able to soften the urban/country “boundary” and to characterize the whole of the school park as well:

LUIS VIALE –PATERNAL BUENOS AIRES ARGENTINA by Nidolab arquitectura

Saturday, May 10th, 2014

Article source: Nidolab arquitectura

The Project was based  on a house built in the year  1918, located in La Paternal, a neighbourhood that still preserves the original grid of the city caracterized by small residential buildings, that managed to stay unaffected by the great movement of the city.

The owners, a very young couple, were searching for a new private room that would be built on an existing roof terrace, leaving the ground floor for the common areas, a recoding studio, a small showroom and a working space for a psychiatrist.

Dunes Bowl in Brera, Milan, Italy by Alessandro Isola

Saturday, May 10th, 2014

Article source: Alessandro Isola

By taking simple everyday objects such as bowls and serving trays the design reinterprets them in a more contemporary form by morphing them together to create a sculptural piece.

The shape was inspired by organic, free flowing forms such as sand dunes.  The two concave sections are in different sizes to hold aperitif snacks, hors d’oesurves or fresh fruit.

Grove Towers in Mumbai, India by 3XN

Article source: 3XN

A Cluster of trees which seemingly braid together

3XN’s design team was invited for the event which unveiled the 77.000 m2 project inspired by the Indian nature and Mumbai’s mangroves. Just as clusters of mangrove stalks seemingly braid together at the base, the two towers in this mixed use development converge at the lower retail floors, rising up to provide amenity spaces on the podium; and grow into the sky as a cluster of slender trees providing some of Mumbai’s most thoughtfully laid out residential accommodation. Each unit features views in at least two directions, many of which look out towards the mangroves to the North, and Indian Ocean to the West.
