MAO’er HUTONG in Beijing, China by odd (okamoto deguchi design)

Tuesday, October 21st, 2014

Article source: odd (okamoto deguchi design)

After years of city development, the construction of Beijing Hutong became even more rational. By the time, people are looking for new lifestyle, and ignored the other lives that are living together. They also play an important role in forming the Hutong living culture.

Porto Olimpico in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by Girimun Architects

Tuesday, October 21st, 2014

Article source: Girimun Architects

As part of a package of investments for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the regeneration of 85 hectares of land near the old docks will create more than 1 million sqm of apartments, hotels, office buildings and a convention centre. The project addresses two moments: the completion of support facilities for the 2016 Olympic Games (10,600-room accommodation for media and referees, a media-centre and 3 to 5-star hotels) and its transformation post-Games into a vibrant mixed-use extension of the city centre. A green loop circuit of public spaces embraces the whole master plan encouraging pedestrian and bicycle use by linking the various dissociated sites and connecting the whole area to the nearby waterfront of the revitalized docks.

Architecture – Klab Architecture – Konstantinos Labrinopoulos

A house of 250m2 for a young family in an almost rural area part of Athens Paiania, was designed in a plot of 500m2. As the first house that was going to be built in this new suburb, but not the last we had to consider future developments but start from an almost white paper. Nevertheless due to crisis new developments are not due to appear any time soon.

Sunday, October 19th, 2014

Article source: Girimun Architects

This is a high-end residential development featuring 10 apartment towers and 59 townhouses. The apartment towers house 700 units ranging from 1-bedroom to 4-bedrooms. All 700 units are orientated towards the view of the nearby Changfeng Haiyang World. The townhouses are 3-stories tall and feature an internal private courtyard. The inspiration comes from the traditional courtyard houses of China. Each unit has its own subterranean parking and storage. Voids were cut out of the street level to allow natural light and ventilation on the basement level. The apartments and townhouses share a central green space as well as a club house.

The project includes the People’s National Assembly, the National Council (Senate), the Chamber (Congress), and a residence for legislators.

Algeria’s new parliament is a project that must meet the highest standards.

The building needs to embody the idea of democracy in action, the Algeria of the future, freedom, peace, strong but deliberative power. The architecture must communicate a distinct national identity founded on universal values.

Cultura Bookstore in são paulo, brazil by studio mk27

Sunday, October 19th, 2014

Article source: studio mk27

A bookstore with a meeting place. This was the main premise of the architectural project of the bookstore Livraria Cultura at Iguatemi. More than just merely a place to shop, the store is inviting to stay and hang-out. Thus, we sought for visitors to not only find a book that they might be looking for, but rather that they remain there.
