Article source: Seeding office

Comprises a historic detached building with Georgian façade but with origin, in part, said to date back to before the times of Henry VIII.

The front elevation, facing the river, dates from the mid to late 18th century and hides much of the older building which is basically 15th century, altered and enlarged in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Contemporary house in Cannes, France by DRC Studio

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: DRC Studio

This contemporary home designed by Denis Bodino is modeled after a California-‐style villa. Its pure and simple lines are highlighted by the glass and polished stainless steel, which contrast with rough-‐hewn natural building materials such as stone, wood and Corten steel.

The property is perched above the city of Cannes, in an exclusive setting with a panoramic view over the surrounding area.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: MOUNT FUJI ARCHITECTS STUDIO

Near the base of the Manazuru Peninsula, on a hilly topography that slopes toward the south, the site is located where the hill’s inclination eases to form a shoulder. Beyond the enclosing greenery composed mainly of broadleaf trees, the expanse of the Pacific Ocean quietly extends to the horizon. The client’s request was for a guesthouse for the family and friends to spend their weekends together.

Stockholm Central Station in Sweden by Tengbom Architects

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: Tengbom Architects

250,000 people pass through Stockholm’s central station on a daily basis. If you were one of them, you would not have missed all the development that has been going on here between 2008-2014 – and a station that has been fully functional the entire time.

In 2008, we were asked by Jernhusen to modernize and develop large parts of Stockholm’s Central station – one of Sweden’s most important crossroads – and make it possible for the station to manage the challenges of both today and tomorrow. Not least the constantly increasing number of travellers. Due to the requirement for many separate improvements, we were given the opportunity to develop a thorough concept for the development.

”Our vision was to improve the experience of the visitors through modernization and design that exceeded their expectations and at the same time preserve and highlight the fine qualities of the old building”, says Mark Humphreys, chief architect.

The South Entrance in Helsingborg, Sweden by Tengbom Architects

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: Tengbom Architects

Helsingborg C, Knutpunkten has a new entrance, Södra entrén. The South entrance is far more than just a shortcut to the tracks, though. As well as a new passenger flow and a cycle hub, the new entrance is also a landmark and a destination that strengthens the city’s commercial ties.

The Municipality of Helsingborg has witnessed a sharp increase in traffic to and from the city. Looking forward to 2020, it is estimated that daily visitors will increase from the current figure of 22,000 to 32,000. This is a pressure that Knutpunkten – which was designed by Ivar Krepp in 1984–1991 – could not handle in its current state, which is why the decision was made to create a new exit and approach at the root of the track’s southern extension. Furthermore, the southern entrances were in a worse condition than the northern ones, which affected the flow of pedestrian traffic. Knutpunkten is currently undergoing a transformation and renovation, yet another task that fell on us.

Moradia Gafanha da Boavista in Portugal by Arch. Adalberto Dias

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: Arch. Adalberto Dias

The plot in Gafanha da Boavista is narrow and long.

The program was interesting and not vulgar for a single family dwelling.

The clients, young couple formed in the Nordic countries, had a different concept of life and another notion of family structure and their relationships.

Three spaces and a corridor, in three volumes, was the concept of the project.

Children’s land in Umal Nasser village, The Gaza strip by ARCò -architettura e cooperazione and MCA- Mario Cucinella Architects

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: ARCò -architettura e cooperazione

The idea of building the Um al Nasser children’s center “The Children’s Land” in the Gaza Strip started in 2011 as a response to a call from the local Bedouin community to the Vento di Terra NGO, asking for access to quality health and educational services for children and women of their village.

Difficult areas such as the Gaza Strip are characterized by a systematic lack of urban planning. The decision to build a school complex employing  bioclimatic architecture criteria was driven by the need to use readily available and cheap local resources.

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

Article source: Tomas Ghisellini Architetti

After many years of complete abandonment, the Riviera Grand Hotel, a historical hotel complex in southern Italy Salento area, comes to a new life after a challenging renovation and a radical interior redesign.

The property, located along one of the most extraordinary coast stretch of Ionian Salento, just close to the sea, is a sort of village made by thin coastal “towers” connected at the base by a plate of services and common areas. The towers, looking at the nearby gulf of Gallipoli, accomodate rooms offering stunning panoramic views over Mediterranean Sea.
