BUSTAMENTE HOUSE in Valparaíso Region, Chile by PAR Arquitectos

Saturday, January 4th, 2014

Article source: PAR Arquitectos

The commission was to develop a house under the standards of the real estate business, a basic and optimized program complemented to a strategy of exterior terraces and main rooms open to panoramic views.

Considering the terraced, square site with an average slope, with “moments” with an ocean view, we decided to set back the house to the back of the site, constituting a broad and long facade, taking the highest point of the site and a more panoramic view of the environment.

The house is located on land used for farming in the original house, with fruit trees planted in an area of 900 m2, where many of the existing trees are maintained, the construction does not alter the natural condition of the land, we work on a platform with a new level + -0.00, which, together with easing the construction, raises the view to the trees of the place.

Article source: Acconci Studio

A bowl that morphs into a dome that morphs back into a bowl… The bowl is a theater — the dome a café, restaurant – the warping of dome into bowl & vice versa makes a playground. Light glows up fromthe bleachers & down from the dome; water pours down the shell of the dome.

House in Minamikarasuyama, Japan by atelier HAKO architects

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

Article source: atelier HAKO architects

The house sit on a narrow and long site, while facing a vacant lot too tiny to build the building beyond the road on the front east side, and facing a pedestrian path on the back west side.

On the south long side, buildings like apartments might be built and might cause the lack of the privacy and the natural light of the house in the future, in spite of the good condition the metered parking offers now.

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

Article source: SHJWORKS Architectural

This project addresses the theme of unique variation and belonging to a community. A community which is both imaginary and definite.Imaginary because each of the fourteen structures creates the illusion of a circle. And definite because the opening of each structure is oriented towards the same physical point.

Article source: Pu Miao Architecture

The main purpose of the park is to allow tourists to view the largest dam across the Yellow River. People can also swim in a lake made by enlarging the original river course (river water now exits through a new course north of the park). The teahouse is located between the lake (west of which looms the dam) and a small hill of about 15 meters high. Behind the hill lie other attractions of the park.

Gjennomsikten in Porsgrunn, Norway by KOLLABORATORIET

Tuesday, December 24th, 2013

Article source: KOLLABORATORIET

The pavilion, made entirely of timber, has been given the name “Gjennomsikten” (“to see through”) due to its transparent character. The varying dimensions of the materials and the viewers position creates varying degrees of transparency and experience of mass. Standing 5 meters tall with the viewing platform giving an overview of the river: allowing one to see both up towards Skien and down towards Porsgrunn. Inside there is a smaller interior space offering a view of the river drifting past and the public beach across the once polluted Porsgrunn’s-river.
