Beethoven Building Entrance and Lobby Area in Barcelona, Spain by Archit3ctum

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Article source: Archit3ctum

The renovation of lobby and common areas of Beethoven building Barcelona was a particular challenger for our studio because we want to give a very new image to the interior areas, with the idea of a contemporary and technological place. To carry out our task, we focus on creating a neutral space where the use of materials with high resistance and metallic colors could mark the perimeter and indicate the flow of the course.

Rua, Restaurant/Bar in Porto, Portugal by Proj3ct and Pluggo

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Article source: Proj3ct and Pluggo

Located on the blooming nightlife district of Oporto’s downtown, RUA occupies the ground floor of an old building facing a narrow yet busy street. The vacant space matched in many ways the traditional construction  of Oporto old city center: narrow lots with high openings and ceilings, the extensive use of granite stone and local painted ceramic tiles (“azulejo”) on the façades, the appropriation of small and cozy patios. The relation towards the street was quite effective and dominant, as it could be enhanced towards the existing patio.

end…Link Beauty Salon in Osaka, Japan by Yasunari Tsukada Design

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Article source: Yasunari Tsukada Design

The name of this beauty salon was inspired by the owner’s passionate desire to turn it into a destination for “the last word in beauty”. Although the design was first completed about five years ago, the previous premises soon grew to feel a little cramped due to the rapidly expanding size of the team, which prompted the owner to move to a new and larger location.

Our proposal aims to improve the social function and attractiveness of Duke of York square. SERO in Lleida, Spain by Estudi D’arquitectura Toni Gironès

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Article source: Estudi D’arquitectura Toni Gironès

During the January of 2007, the construction works of a secondary pipe of the water distribution mains in Segarra-Garrigues system, caused an unexpected appearance of archaeological ruins from an ancient construction for 4.800 years in Seró (Artesa de Segre, Lleida). The most important point of this discovery was the megalithic nature of sandstone slabs and specially the accuracy of geometrical decoration sculpted. Stones with soft relief that, at the same time, were parts of ancient statues reused from a previous sculptural monument.
