North Kellyville Square in Australia by Scott Carver

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Article source: Scott Carver

“It is a hybrid community place, both an urban square and an activated main street. It is an engaging resolution of the walkable and the vehicular – of big convenience and bespoke localism,” says Rob Sanderson [Project and Design Leader]. “It inaugurates and celebrates the future urbanity of the place”.

“Ample and changing daylight makes the space alive within the static built form while the cantilevered awnings provide comfort and the setting for activation,” says Anupama Saha [Project Architect].

Yi She Mountain Inn in Beijing, China by DL Atelier

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Article source: DL Atelier

Henry David Thoreau said, “City life is millions of people being lonesome together.” Like all the mega-cities, it’s getting increasingly easier in Beijing to feel the loneliness in a vast crowd. People are mentally polarized between the obsession of exquisite urban chaos.

60 km away from Beijing lies Ming Dynasty Tombs, surrounding it are the serrated mountains and loosely aggregated villages where tourists can find our inn. Our client wanted to reshape it into a retreat for exhausted people and an emotional place to restore the personal connections between friends, families or even strangers.

Paraje Barrank in Mexico City, Mexico by anonimous

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Article source: anonimous

The void of the patio organizes two volumes of five levels with 10 apartments measuring 138 m2 each, in the south of Mexico City.

The lattices and spatial organization of the adjoining constructions help to inspire a project that looks inwards.

With an area of 20 x 25 m, the apartments take advantage of the whole frontage to ensure that rooms are filled with light and air. A corridor links the volumes on the south and north sides, and the courtyard between them.
