The Parrote car park is already a reality eleven years after the works had been awarded and after four years stoped, between 2008 and 2012, during this time it was necessary to adapt the project to the archaeological remains that were found in the area.   The car park has two entrances. You can access both by Puerta Real and by the San Anton Castle. In the case of the first, this is a temporary entry while the tunnel in construction to connect the underground of the Marina is not ended, which will connect with the Parrote, the entrance will be located underground. Hotel Proverbs Taipei in Taiwan by RAY CHEN +PARTNERS ARCHITECTS

Friday, March 24th, 2017

Article source: RAY CHEN +PARTNERS ARCHITECTS

The site of Hotel Proverbs is located at the heart of Taipei City central where the MRT, night market, department stores, public park and densely occupied apartments create a vibrant and busy area 24-7. To take full advantage of – and to mediate – this lively and yet extremely intricate urban condition, the building splits diagonally into two parts: the upper 42 hotel rooms and the lower hotel amenities. The lower part is pushed back from the park side to make space for the trees indigenous to the site. The upper part, on the other hand, is shifted forward to lean into the park while maintaining an accommodating distance from the apartments closely situated behind the hotel.

MON factory / house in Kyoko- City, Japan by EASTERN design office

Friday, March 24th, 2017

Article source: EASTERN design office

The holes are lined up on a cross shape. The hole is made on the architecture like the perforated line. This architecture is “House with Crest”.

A light that penetrates into the architecture always moves and never stays. It is a symbolical spectacle. A light that goes through the hole is projected in a circle shape, moves unlimitedly, and never stays. Occasionally, it disappears, and it appears.

Komatsu Seima Fabric Laboratory fa-bo in Nomi City, Ishikawa by Kengo Kuma & Associates

Friday, March 24th, 2017

Article source: Kengo Kuma & Associates

This is a renovation of an office building in rigid-frame RC structure to strengthen its quake resistance using carbon fiber, and transform the interior into a museum called Fab Labo, a space to display the technology of Komatsu Seiren, the client company. Drawing from a technique of braiding ropes in this region, it became possible to add further flexibility to the carbon fiber. The fiber rod is said to be seven times stronger than iron, and this is the very first time that this material was used as a means of reinforcement against earthquakes. The potential of this light and soft fiber is explored inside the building as well. There is a lighting duct in fiber and on the rooftop, an experimental greening is being conducted using porous ceramic panels (called Greenbiz), which was generated from the process of producing fiber.
