Reitarena Stubai in Fulpmes im Stubai, Tyrol, Austria by ao-architekten

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Article source: Michael Felder

Position within the landscape:

In order to establish a large enough flat surface area for the equestrian facility, the preexisting slope has been divided into several terraces. These terraces provide the necessary surface area required by each independent structure, such as the indoor riding arena, the stables, the open space, the kids club, the operator’s apartment, and subsequently trail away into the open country. Objects such as stables and the adjoining building are incorporated into these intersecting lines, which manifest themselves as batter and supporting wall, whereas the indoor riding arena and the gallery of the open space rest on the landscape.

 Article source: b10+n architects

The building of 42 social housing is situated on a triangular-shaped plot in the new district of Barajas, plot that results from the intersection between the diagonal street at south-western edge of the new urban extension and the orthogonal grid characteristic of this urban planning. Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Article source: Bentley Systems, Incorporated

What is now 1,200 acres of sand will soon become a spectacular new community that combines waterways, harbors, lush landscapes, and dramatically designed skyscrapers. Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback (TVS) & Associates, the architectural firm charged with designing the Lagoons in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, envisions the project as seven islands. Each island thematically represents an emirate of the UAE and encompasses several specific, yet interrelated, functions that include central business districts, world-class retail shops, entertainment zones, cultural centers, and mixed-use residential buildings.

Footbridge Over the River Marne in Meaux by DVVD

Saturday, September 8th, 2012

Article source: DVVD

I. SITE – CONTEXT

The footbridge links the centre of Meaux, more particularly the station, to Grand Ile, a medieval district located within a bend of the Marne. The decision to locate the bridge on the bend of the river allows it to provide a greater number of views, and increases the ways in which the structure can interact with its environment.
