Article source: Nomade Architects

This 130 m² house is constructed in “Los Huemules” Ecological Reserve, 10 km from El Chalten town in the southern part of Santa Cruz province, Argentina. The Patagonian natural environment that surrounds the project was the most important input for designing this residence: the scale of the construction is aligned with the forest canopy providing a contained horizontal view from the interior to the sheltered heart of the forest.

Iron Lace Project in Quebec, Canada by Gestion René Desjardins

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

Article source: Gestion René Desjardins

“It’s a beautiful, calm street, lined with trees and 1960s bungalows. On the other hand, the house that these clients had bought was in such disrepair that it was beyond saving. The municipality had therefore granted us a demolition permit, on the strict condition that the new building follow the original plan. That was a real problem, since we needed to triple the livable space to meet the family’s needs. The husband, a tall, strapping extrovert, wanted a space that would reflect his size and personality. His wife, ever so pragmatic, insisted on easy upkeep and ample storage space.”

Pago de Carraovejas Winery in Peñafiel, Spain by Estudio Amas4arquitectura

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

Article source: Estudio Amas4arquitectura

This project is part of a series of works where we tried to look into a massiveness which liberated space and turned what isn’t done into the main focus. The whole building is articulated by this blank space in the shape of patios, subtractions or voids. Daylight is distributed through indirect and singular openings. Structure is resolved through big superficial components in the form of enclosure.

Two individual houses were to be designed for 2 brothers and their families was the brief of this project. The plot (1000 smt) is situated in the R3 zone of the outskirts of Ahmedabad (a city in the western part of India). A very clear instruction from the client was that they did not want to divide the plot and use it as a huge common space for both the families.

This new image needs to be cohesive, simple in its form, identifiable from other institution’s branches, communicative and friendly.
