The Line Sukhumvit 101 in Thailand by Openbox Architects co.,ltd

Monday, April 23rd, 2018

Article source: Openbox Architects co.,ltd

– Architectural design

“The Line 101” has been created based on the key idea, “Living between the Line”. The expression, like in literature, refers to hidden, deeper meaning, beyond words, or visual appearances. Inspired by Davenport’s famous, modern painting, “The Waterfall”. The demographic group of residences, young, free, active and successful, are perceived as vertical stripes of colors, expressing themselves so lively, vividly and uniquely, to create a unique, dynamic work of art on the skyline of Sukhumvit.

Venice House in California by pod architecture + design

Friday, April 20th, 2018

Article source: pod architecture + design

Venice House is a compact, three-story house in Venice Beach, CA, huddled among the neighborhood’s densely packed residences and detached garages. The sloping trapezoidal roof and white metal and warm wood exterior walls make it stand out in the crush of houses.

There were just 700 square feet on which to begin custom-designing a modern three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath house for this family of four. Since we couldn’t build out, we built up, stacking spatial needs vertically, starting with an open two-car garage and private outdoor living space on the ground level.

Norhouse in Bandung, Indonesia by Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture

Friday, April 20th, 2018

Article source: Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture

Urban residential development increases rapidly with the advancement of life expectancy in urban areas. Aside from expensive land prices and low quality of life, it is not difficult to find dense settlements in the middle of the city. Most of those have no access to big vehicles, even though there is a road nearby.

Located in a dense settlement with a narrow alley as the only access, precisely in Jalan Pahlawan, Bandung, West Java – Indonesia, NOR House is a residence of a couple, Sisca, and Ovian. The two-floor house was completed in early 2018. The name of NOR House itself is taken from their children, Adara Kaila Eleanor and Sophia Cyrilla Eleonora, who have the word nur or light in Arabic as part of their name.

Lopera House in Córdoba, Spain by DRM ESTUDIO

Thursday, April 19th, 2018

Article source: DRM ESTUDIO

The Lopera House is a single-family home in a neighborhood with single- and multi-family housing in northern Pozoblanco, located in Cordoba, Spain.

Three fundamental ideas are at the core of the design: natural light, entrance through a garden, and openness while retaining privacy. On a north-east-oriented plot, the H-shaped house, articulated by two courtyards, allows natural light to penetrate into every interior and exterior space. A pure and clean geometry enhances the massive nature and privacy of the proposal. The entry opens into a light-filled central courtyard, where a vertical garden has been designed as a new interpretation of the traditional patio of Andalucia.

Superlofts in Amsterdam, Netherlands by MARC KOEHLER ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, April 17th, 2018

Article source: v2com

Tapping into the open building movement, Superlofts offers its residents the freedom to design and/or self-build their homes from scratch incorporating any hybrid function, and co-create the shared spaces as a community.

Resilient buildings can adapt and evolve to a city’s ever-changing programmes and the lifestyles of its inhabitants. Unfortunately as older building stock becomes obsolete this results in wasted empty or under-utilised space. In the Netherlands, the estimated total building vacancy is five times the number of new buildings constructed annually.

Article source: Colombo and Serboli Architecture

This apartment is located in the oldest part of Barcelona, in an ancient building that dates back to the 13th century, in the neighborhood known as Born.

The brief was to completely transform the old property into a new vibrant flat, home of a young Italian woman, a fashion professional.

The highly compartmented layout originally included three bedrooms, two occupying the street side and a third one in the entrance space and was placing living and kitchen in the dark interior of the plot.
