The project takes the form of an urban micro-operation aiming to link a park, that had been isolated until now, and a boulevard running through to the town centre. This has resulted in a pathway being created in the middle of the plot to better make use of its heart and to define an unusual landscape. To either side of this axis, two quite different housing typologies have been built: to the north, a two storey building crossing through the site and, to the south, a series of interleaved houses. Each housing unit is extended by a vast outdoor space positioned either next to the entrance or to the rear of the unit. The most symbolic, being that of the main building, is constructed from a double latticework envelope and, extending the living room, creates an additional space of around 20 m².
Not only now the situation in the housing market is exacerbated. Even in recent years, far too few apartments have been built in the inexpensive segment. So affordable housing must be re-implemented as soon as possible.
Contemporary tropical living is what Kata Rocks is all about. Conceived as an ultra-exclusive apartment resort, the emphasis is on clean and uncomplicated space paying homage to the view. 34 oversized apartments, duplexes and penthouses, terraced to take advantage of the natural slope, are fully serviced by all the facilities you would find in a five star resort.
The project falls within the general framework of restructuring Porte Pouchet (Paris, 17th arrondissement) and, more particularly, the site represented by Rue Rebière which, until now, had been largely ignored. The 25 housing units are distributed over two buildings, each making reference to its specific context: a small tower develops the form generated by a small square on the west side. It is linked by walkways to a more compact building positioned on the street’s alignment and provides continuity with adjacent projects. These two systems generate diversified housing units (17 different types out of a total of 25) with views over the city and considerable thought given to positioning with regards neighbours. The result is an architecture that takes full advantage of this limited site (18 x 50 m).
Formerly a parking lot on the southeast corner of Fulton and Gough streets, the Drs. Julian + Raye Richardson Affordable Apartments has risen on one of the sites freed for development by the demolition of the collapsed Central Freeway. This five-story building will provide permanent supportive housing for a very-low-income, formerly homeless population.
The operation resulted from a competition (“Archi’nova, comment habiterez-vous demain?” – Archi’nova, living in tomorrow’s world) launched by the Alliade group. The programs are built independently on the plot and share a central garden. The adopted morphology is diversified, urban in nature and the apartments of considerable quality: wet rooms are naturally lit and conservatories allow outdoor spaces to be incorporated during the summer months. A new typology is proposed: that of “single-level homes” in which a floor level corresponds to a single apartment. Taking up little floor area, they provide the vertical qualities of a detached house: four open faces, an outdoor space and considerable partitioning freedom as well as condominium-owned shared services.
In an urban fabric comprising a large number of single family homes and marked by former market gardens and industrial wastelands, the incorporation of a collective programme had to meet several conditions.
The client got inherited this apartment from her grandmother’s brother in 1955. The house is made of stones and pise. Uncle Andor became the head of the post office in Mátraszentimre. That’s how we named the place, the House of the Postmaster.
In the small town of Rijssen 2by4-architects designed the new healthcare and housing complex ‘Eltheto’ for elderly people. Until recently elderly people were seen as a group that functions outside of modern society and are only in need of care. The contemporary healthcare centers and housing for elderly people are still designed according to his idea. Over the past decennia this resulted in a range of introvert buildings where the main focus is healthcare instead of the quality of life itself.
Castelli owes its appearance to an interpretation of a recent urban regulation proposed for some “corridors streets” of this low-density area.
In a small corner lot of 11.60 x 16.50mts, the block complies with the mandatory street withdrawals and separates from inner limits lots, which give a certain height to take advantage of views of the Setúbal lagoon and the center of the city.
