Poblenou Office in Spain by estudio COA

Wednesday, April 24th, 2019

Article source: estudio COA

This project presents the renovation of an office for the company Agua KMZERO, a sustainable water brand based on the concepts of quality, ecology, economy and proximity.

The office is located in a building of 1965 in the industrial district of Poblenou, Barcelona.

With the intention that the atmosphere of their offices took part of their own identity the goal was to rep-resent their values in the interior design project.
On the one hand, we sought to work with recyclable materials (ecology), on the other hand, we took advantage of all the elements of the original industrial architecture (proximity / economy) and finally, we used glass as an allegory of water and to enhance and contrast with the rest of materials (quality).

Article source: SNITKER/BORST/ARCHITECTEN/

The municipality of New West (a town district of Amsterdam) is already for years simultaneously on multiple locations working on a large scale renewal of the Westen Garden Cities of Amsterdam. In this framework De Bomentuin is a small scale project, that is fitted in the neighborhood with modesty and carefulness. The project is realized on the site of the Slotermeerhof, a complex of duplex apartments belonging to the residential home for the elderly, Slotermeeroord from 1963. The small dwellings were demolished in order to make place for more spacious and comfortable apartments and family houses.

Article source: LYVR architecten

Assignment
In november 2014 the Municipality of Groningen commissioned LYVR for the design of a new accommodation for Bureau Meerstad / GEMM.

New residential area Meerstad

Bureau Meerstad is an organization that is responsible for the implementation of the plans for the new residential area “Meerstad”. This area is positioned around, and partially on, a newly-made lake. The development for Meerstad started a few years ago, the initial plan was to build 10.000 dwellings in this area. The plan will be achieved in approximately 25 years. The total planning area is gradually established, so the different residential areas can ‘operate’ on it’s own. “Meeroevers” is the first residential area that is being realized.

The designated use of this building is to provide accommodation for the VEVA training course (safety and professional expertise). Deltion College provides this training on behalf of the Ministry of Defence at a level that equates to senior secondary vocational education. The building is home to, among other things, 16 classrooms, various practical rooms, a canteen with a professional kitchen, a fitness room and a gym. In addition, the building has a practical space at ground floor level featuring lift bridges for motor vehicle technology and a workshop for trucks.

The total surface area of the building measures over 5000m2. Since sports form an important part of the training, the building benefits from 11 large changing and shower rooms.

Jean d’Ormesson Media Library in La Ferté Bernard, France by Agence Philippe Fichet

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

Article source: Agence Philippe Fichet

From the Architect

The place affirms its liberty and appears free from the barely solemn city, only defined by a nick of water and trees who crystalize History on this very site. Nothing stands up to this geographical feature. There, a very vivid and live passage, a bridge, and the beyond — the inner city border, the one of links and connections.

Located East, in the Ferté Bernard, Sartre area, the Jean d’Ormesson media library is set in a dense urban area, at the heart of the city. The 1800m² lot is situated on the edge of the old town and the river that surrounds it.

Griffin School is a college preparatory high school located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Austin, TX. The school’s diverse, liberal arts curriculum and creative student body define its reputation. For many years the school has occupied an assemblage of buildings in a residential neighborhood. The campus consists of a repurposed church, a house converted to classrooms, and a small workshop. To accommodate growing enrollment and to create an environment that embodies their core values, Griffin School added a new two-story classroom building to the existing ensemble.

Paddock House in Hampshire, England by OB Architecture

Wednesday, November 8th, 2017

Article source: OB Architecture

Paddock House was formerly a charming New Forest house whose character had been consumed by a series of unsympathetic modern extensions. It had been left unloved for a number of years and had fallen into a rather tired state; and its poor condition was sadly highlighted by the beautiful paddock setting which surrounded the house.
