WS house in Canelones, Uruguay by bercetche estudio

Sunday, February 9th, 2020

Article source: bercetche estudio

Located on the outskirts of Montevideo Uruguay, this house designed by “Bercetche Estudio” shows great respect for the environment and, through a nice space distribution, takes advantage of it. Two opaque volumes separated from each other generates a permeable “in between” that gives rise to all the common activities of the house (Hall, living-room, dining-room and kitchen) and connect it with the different boundaries of the land where it was built: to the front a main street of medium traffic, to the right a children’s package, to the left a single-family house and to the bottom a glen with a leafy vegetation. For these different situations the house responds with a particular set of volumes that generates different degrees of privacy. This volumes also contains the garage, laundry and mechanical room. Only the bedrooms has standard windows, with a homogeneous distribution on the facades and aligned each other at the interior, allows a visual communication that crosses all the house.

It is an easy-to-read house, built with sustainable and economical materials, which prove that with well-manipulated basic components, an expressive and energy efficient house can be made.

Lopez Design Office in Gurgaon, India by DADA & Partners

Monday, February 3rd, 2020

Article source: DADA & Partners

Designing a new studio space for a long established and leading environmental graphics firm meant creating a spatial experience that provided continuity with their work ethic and yet explored new inter-relationships that could foster creative thinking.

The design process began with a deep understanding of the rituals of the creative group; headed by Anthony Lopez. On an everyday level their zen-like approach towards a barefoot office, sharing a communal lunch, multiple spaces for informal reflection, outdoor pads for the all-pervasive phone calls, amongst others, shaped the spatial configuration. The need for larger gatherings such as their bi-weekly Forum and other office social events, also informed the design process.

A new development in the expanding Kartal district on the Asian side of Istanbul will open up a proposed, master planned community of mixed uses. Residential is pushing in rapidly as the MA motorway plus a public transport new Metro station makes this area very accessible and desirable. The AND site is fortunately located atop a high point that slopes down towards the water and the Sea of Marmara. Sitting astride this advantageous pinnacle, apartments on the upper levels will have sea views. Article source: Sangberg

Havnehusene (The Harbor Houses) is just one of many new building projects in Eastern Harbour in Aalborg paying homage to the area’s historical past.

When developing a historical neighborhood, you simultaneously need to acknowledge the past while you’re creating something new. So rather than embracing a tabula rasa strategy, the objective for the development of Easter Harbor has been to create a new sustainable district while maintaining a reference to the area’s history. Hence industrial history, high silo buildings and contact the water forms the basis for a reinterpretation and development of new urban qualities in the area.
