The 4th Gymnasium in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by Paul de Ruiter Architects

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016

Article source: Paul de Ruiter Architects

In the first energy-neutral district of Amsterdam, the Houthavens, we designed the 4th Gymnasium. An energy-neutral secondary school that accommodates about 800 students. The school functions as the entrance of the new district. The Houthavens had an industrial role for years and will transform into a vibrant district with several islands in the upcoming years. A great variety of buildings and residents will take their place here. The 4th Gymnasium serves as a herald for the further developments of this area.

Elgtårn (Moose tower) in Espedalen, Norway by RAM Arkitektur AS

Saturday, October 29th, 2016

Article source: RAM Arkitektur AS

Espedalen is a valley situated in inland Norway to the east of Jotumheimen national park. The valley is home to the largest moose migration route in Europe. RAM Arkitektur was initially approached by the local community to suggest five architectural interventions in the region, with the aim of boosting tourism within the area. Momentum quickly built around and early sketch for a moose-viewing tower, with basic overnight accommodation for six people, located on public forestry land, and in the heart of the migration route.

Between Land and Sky home in Beit Zayit, Israel by Joel Jospe – Architects

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

Article source: Joel Jospe – Architects

When I first saw the lot, the steep slope overlooking the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ein Karem, I wanted to do one thing only – to keep walking forward, hover in the air above the canyon, quietly observing the landscape visible in every direction. This was the primary motivation during planning. I did not give up this desire, or the opportunity inherent in it, and have given it to the owners.

Wednesday, October 26th, 2016

Article source: FILM OBRAS DE ARQUITECTURA

This house is a combination of a new architectural entity with an existing house, which has been constructed by “Federación del caucho” in a working-class neighborhood.

The house, which has an irregular slab framed with inverted beams and supported on the main walls, can be identified in most of the constructions of the neighborhood. It has a good construction quality. Now, this neighborhood has become from a working-class to a high-valued district.

N-House in Fukuoka, Japan by Uchida Takahisa Architect Design Office

Cantilevered closets

The site is located on the soft ground near the lower basin of the big river. The client of this house decided to build one-storied house because the site area is wide enough, but it was necessary to reduce the foundation area because of the construction budget. So I arranged closets in the outer periphery, and attached them by the cantilevering structure.
