The Mill House in Skane, Sweden by Wingardh Arkitektkontor AB trough

Saturday, September 15th, 2012

Article source: Wingardh Arkitektkontor AB trough

Wingårdh converted a large old farm in the countryside in southern Sweden into a vacation house for a family from the nearby city of Malmö. He transformed the original farm buildings – cowshed, stables, hay loft and barn – into sleeping quarters, kitchen and a gym, among other rooms, and added a new freestanding wing to the late 19th -century house. This little annex is a refuge, a quiet place to escape to or a private domain for guests to inhabit. Throughout the project, the client demonstrated unwavering faith in the architect, giving him great latitude in designing the little fifty-square-meter cottage.

Article source: Carlos Pascal

“El Cardenal Restaurant” is located in the ground floor of a modern building in the midst of of a trendy commercial area of Mexico City. The contemporary design of the premises is in direct relationship with the surroundings rather than with the traditional Mexican cuisine, allowing it to be the center of attention and leaving everything else functioning only as background.

Reitarena Stubai in Fulpmes im Stubai, Tyrol, Austria by ao-architekten

Wednesday, September 12th, 2012

Article source: Michael Felder

Position within the landscape:

In order to establish a large enough flat surface area for the equestrian facility, the preexisting slope has been divided into several terraces. These terraces provide the necessary surface area required by each independent structure, such as the indoor riding arena, the stables, the open space, the kids club, the operator’s apartment, and subsequently trail away into the open country. Objects such as stables and the adjoining building are incorporated into these intersecting lines, which manifest themselves as batter and supporting wall, whereas the indoor riding arena and the gallery of the open space rest on the landscape.
