Masonic House in Moscow, Russia by FABER GROUP

Friday, May 6th, 2016

Article source: FABER GROUP

The premises of the four houses are located around a common stair-lift lobby – atrium. In the basement are areas of cinema and billiard room. The first floor comprises a group of ceremonial and technical kitchen, dining room and split-level living room-library. Main lift and staircase hall is raised on three floors and opens the space of the house throughout its extent. Having made the decision not to conceal the space of the staircase hall, but to strengthen the impression it makes, the volume of the hall was visually stretches by active verticals. The hall turned into a luxurious multilevel volume, with “heart of gold” in the form of a nine-metre cascading chandelier made by the author’s project. Hypertrophied height is emphasizes by rapid vertical impressionability of the walls, pointing upwards. The whole system of decoration starts from the entrance and develops in the remaining space of the house. Stucco, murals, designer fixtures and colours shape the environment of clear art deco motifs.

CHK | Central Boathouse in Oklahoma by Elliott + Associates Architects

Article source: Elliott + Associates Architects

The connection of rowing, art and music contains surprising similarities such as rhythm, flow, and movement.  The goal was to create an architectural spirit that embodies the similarities shared by these three disciplines.  We hope you see the abstract connections in the architectural form and light.  Some connections are quiet and some connections are boldImagine a song inspired by rowing.  It would be a composition cooler than the far side of the pillow.

House in Nishinokyo, Japan by OHArchitecture

Friday, May 6th, 2016

Article source: OHArchitecture

This is a remodelling project of a Kyomachi-ya, a traditional Kyoto house, constructed over 80 years ago.

At first, it was a Kyomachi-ya that has been painted multiple times due to refurbishments in the last 80 years. Firtstly, for returning it to the original form, the paints were scraped off. Then, to be able to provide the minimal needs for living in a house, a white box has been placed in the building. The coexistence of the newly placed white box and the historical elements of the Kyomachi-ya, as a background, emphasizes the contrast of the old and the new, and lets the memories of the building possessed with in the flow of time surrounds the space.

One House_House for Family of Four in Pangyo, Korea by Chang Kyu Lee (GEBDESIGN)

Friday, May 6th, 2016

Article source: Chang Kyu Lee

A house is a place of habitation—a dwelling and shelter. A house is also a home—a place of identity. Just as an individual’s identity is personal (private) and social (public), the home is also a shelter separated from the world (inward) and a place of center from which to explore the world (outward).

Loft Grandpa in Horto, Brazil by MEIUS Arquitetura

Thursday, May 5th, 2016

Article source: MEIUS Arquitetura

The loft is located in the old garage / workshop residence built by Henricão own in the 50’s, located in the Garden neighborhood in BH.

The project arose from the need Grandpa Henricão (Henrique Fernando Tetzç) to have a new place to live with accessibility, as access to the inner area of the house happens for a very long ladder and Grandpa with its 92 years (20 / 04/1923) could not overcome all the steps in an easy way. And with that he went to rent part of the house where he lived to the nearby hospital.

WOODLAND in Isle of Wight, England by One World Design

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Article source: One World Design

Woodland is near the River Yar and lies within the Causeway Conservation Area. The site was purchased by a retired couple who have made the island their home. Although anxious to preserve the character of the Causeway they wanted to replace an existing timber cottage with a more open dwelling and a new garden. Crucially, they also wanted to be unobserved by passers by.

White Apartment in Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic by Next Level Studio

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016

Article source: Next Level Studio

Over three years lasting reconstruction of the 3+1 apartment in Uherske Hradiste, Czech Republic appealed an endless process of thoughts and construction operations, which finally filled the visions. Every line on a sketch, every statement in a computer programme, as well as every single building block, was considered as crucial everything influencing steps. The most difficult task for an architect – is designing for himself. How to recognize reserves in the design, how to set the limits behind which he doesn’t need to go though the possibilities are finally almost limitless? The design was treated as the opportunity to try out certain procedures, materials and technologies. I am interested in monochrome space, where light can be experimented. White itself has many shades, tones, and valeurs. During the day, the Sun warms the interior with light of 2000 – 3500K. While the artificial evening light set on 4200K, cools the space. Artificial light casts varied shadows, highlights different elements and the interior transmutes. Colour RGB LED strips; hidden in the niches of the furniture, enable dynamic coloration of the space. They can “paint” the space in accordance with the current wishes.
