As its name — which reflects its exact address — would suggest, Havre 77 by Francisco Pardo Arquitecto in collaboration with architect Julio Amezcua is an urban re-densification and reactivation project that sinks its roots deeply into Mexico City’s urban fabric. Standing on the south side of the emblematic Paseo de la Reforma, the intervention is part of a wider regeneration program covering Colonia Juárez. Today a bustling central district, the area used to be one of the city’s most exclusive suburbs back in the early 1900’s, before it was hit by a revolutionary war and two destructive earthquakes in 1957 and 1985, which led to a rent freeze for over 50 years.

Fokkema & Partners developed the interior design for the new – energy neutral – City Hall of Krimpen with an energy label A++. A welcoming entrance invites citizens to visit the City Hall for the services in the public area, which have open counters with a view through the building and to water around it. Flexibility fits the new way of working in the City Hall, which translates to a large diversity of workplaces and ways to arrange various spaces.

The Won Dharma Center, USA, is a 28,000 square foot recreational and spiritual retreat in Claverack, New York for the Won Buddhists, a Korean organization that emphasizes balance in one’s daily life and relationship to nature. The center is located within a 500-acre property on a gently sloping hill with views west to the Hudson River valley and the Catskill Mountains. The buildings for the Center, including permanent and guest residences, an administration building and a meditation hall, are sited as far as possible from the highway and are oriented toward the west and south to maximize views and light. The symbol of this organization is an open circle, suggesting both a void without absence and infinite return. The buildings are organized around these dual concepts of void and spiral.

The Rome-based architectural office Schiattarella Associati was awarded twice: “Concept Winner” at this year’s ICONIC AWARDS and Honorable Mention at the AAP 2016 for the Addiriyah Contemporary Art Center project in Saudi Arabia.
The ICONIC AWARDS, a design competition under the aegis of the German Design Council, are held annually to recognize outstanding architectural projects and design products. Amongst media partners in 2016 competition, Atrium, Dezeen, World-architets.com.

THE CLUB is an installation by BUREAU A for the Lisbon Triennale 2016.
Conceived as an architecture dedicated to sound experience, it is a noise cabin hosting people for a dense dancing event. This travelling sound system, in the Jamaican tradition, adapts to a diversity of situations and generates, through its architectural presence, a particular relation to the context where it stands. It is composed of loudspeakers, a DJ booth, a bar and an entrance. In its smaller configuration, it creates a perfect micro dancefloor for about 25 people, entirely enclosed buy the sound architecture.

The Plane-Tree-Cube was designed as a contribution for the Regional Horticultural Show in Nagold in 2012. It was conceptualized as a long-term Baubotanik experiment within an urban context. By the help of “Plan Addition” techniques, a green cube with an edge length of 10 meters was created that, right from the beginning, had the dimension of a full-grown tree. Initially, young plane trees are arranged in plant containers on six levels. They form green walls around a space open to the sky.

Ginza is renowned around the world as a commercial hotspot in Tokyo. Marronnier street in Ginza is an especially bright street lined with great buildings each with their own individuality and architectural design. We felt that the De Beers Ginza Building should express the brightness and the glow of Ginza at the same time. For the design, what we imagined firstly was an image of gently curving streams of light. Like a light ribbon being held above the ground, or the aurora that changes its colour and shape continuously, we thought it should have a bright and graceful form with curved lines that look like a women’s beautiful silhouette. We decided to brighten the stainless steel to appear like a diamond glitter along the silhouette to give it a sensitive look. The building has been constructed with stainless steel being rolled out in a curved shape. Each stainless steel surface has a special finish, so the appearance reflects the light of the sky and the town sensitively and changes its appearance throughout the day with the movement of the sun. At the same time, the architectural expression shows infinite changes depending on the position it is seen from. Ginza has always been on the frontier of design, adopting changes over time to form the town. De Beers Ginza is a part of that tradition and our design is an expression of this ever changing town on the frontier of architectural design.

The building is adjacent to the historic city center of Legnago. The project includes a modern re-interpretation of the sixteenth and seventeenth-century buildings situated in the historic centers of our cities. The new volume fits into the already-existing buildings with such proportions as to mediate between the impressive volumes present in the rear part of the parcel and the relatively-small houses overlooking the perimeter. The main façade overlooking Via G. Martino, is marked by full and empty spaces with three full parts separated by two pillared loggias; the building is volumetrically symmetric with respect to the central axis of the main body. The vertical division is also tripartite according to ancient traditions: rustication on the lower part, plaster in the middle with a window-framed cornice at the top (skyline). In the main body are some embedded, proportioned red balconies that become the adornment of the façade. The building slopes down in the rear, this forming terraces at different levels, providing ample, exposed spaces available to users.

The ARCHITECTURE AS A TRANSFORMING AGENT
The reconciliation between tourism and communities has transformed Lake Lanalhue into a natural, economic and political resource. We are aware of being part of our own time and place, in the Arauco province where tense ancestral and historical demands are taking place, a complex period in many aspects, and instead of avoiding the implications that this entails, we decided to face this period by contributing from what we know best, and this is to act from within the territory with the architecture that makes us the most sense, that is the architecture whose action transforms and summons the encounter of worlds that at times seem so distant, but that share a specific place of the planet, a common place in the Cosmos.
