Single Family House Correnteza 21 in Lisbon, Portugal by Humberto Conde, Arq.

Friday, September 9th, 2016

Article source: Humberto Conde, Arq.

This intervention seeks to maintain only the two main existing facades of the building, at North and East, given the high degree of deterioration of the overall volume. Although the existing building is not a remarkable architectural example and with construction quality, contributes to the cohesion of the urban image of the set to which it belongs, so the maintenance of facades allow the continuity of the dialogue between the building and the context in which it operates.

Thursday, September 8th, 2016

Article source: Steven Holl Architects

The 400sf Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle shop is an abstract insertion into the historic fabric of Greenwich Village. It is envisioned as an integral material/spatial whole.

An imagined geometry for olfaction, a slipped disk characterizes the facade, the main cabinetry, the furniture, and the secret garden beyond.

Ocean Eye-A Terrace House in Puntarenas, Costa Rica by Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture

Wednesday, September 7th, 2016

Article source: Benjamin Garcia Saxe Architecture

The Holdener family bought a beautiful property with two breath-taking views: towards the ocean and into the jungle. We decided to rest the house against the back of the steep hill of the site in order to stabilize the soil and protect the house from falling debris. The house then transitions from a more solid and intimate construction at the back that holds bedrooms and bathrooms, towards a light-weight and ephemeral structure that points to the visual collapse of the ocean and jungle views. The result is a series of interwoven terraces that relate to each other in all dimensions creating not only an internal dynamic interaction between levels, but also varied and sometimes unexpected relationships between the inhabitants and the natural landscape. In these interstitial terrace spaces, which are never truly inside or out, architecture comes to foster the relationship, enjoyment, and appreciation of the natural world by the inhabitants.

A Gallery in Tokyo, Japan by Rei Mitsui Architects

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: Rei Mitsui Architects

It’s located in an alley close to “Cat Street” near Shibuya, Harajyuku and Omotesando.

The original exterior design was not so bad as the one of 45 years ago. Presumably it was designed by an competent architect. So, as for the exterior, we intended not to change a lot and to show the original design purely.  Actually, we only removed balconies and replaced  two sliding windows with fixed large windows.

Tecnomec Workshop House in São Paulo, Brazil by PAX.ARQ

Tuesday, September 6th, 2016

Article source: PAX.ARQ

As a result of a particular programmatic condition, the workshop-house project was conceived to host a residence, a high-performance mechanical workshop and classrooms in a 260m² terrain located in the Pinheiros neighborhood, São Paulo.

The programmatic activities were distributed in a specific way so it was possible to take the greatest advantage from the functional and legal point of view. The result is a separation of the program in three levels: ground-floor, which hosts the mechanical workshop activities, revisions, repairs, part-washing and a dynamometer room for vehicle testing; first floor, where the classrooms, study rooms and bathrooms are located; and second floor, place for the residence.
