PARK GROOT SCHIJN, ZONE BOTERLAAR SILSBURG in Antwerp, Belgium by Maxwan architects + urbanists

Is the first detailed design of the Ruggeveld master plan. The planning area covers 6.5 hectares and is located south of the E313 highway. The program includes park design (the blueprint for the “green seams” throughout the entire master plan, landscape design (a qualitative improvement of de Koude Beek Valley), 172 community gardens and a reservation of about 30 additional gardens and a parking for about 50 cars.

NorthGate in Ankara,Turkey by Motto Architecture

Northgate Phase 1 is a 300.000 sqm development that creates a new urban focus in the vicinity of Esenboğa International Airport in Ankara. The development is both a part and a catalyst of the rapid process of urban generation in the zone along with the new international expo, two university campuses and a large-scale automobile showroom complex. Northgate is the largest self-sustaining mixed use project in the location, introducing offices, residences, a variety of retail programs and a five-star hotel along other amenities. The development provides temporary work-stay environments for travelling business people as well as a 120.000 sqm housing program (to be extended to 800.000 sqm in the succeeding phases).

Mother & Child welfare center in Paris, France by Rh+ architecture

The project is located in the south of Paris, in a small curved street, surrounded by historical and typical french buildings of the industrial period. The low density of the neighborhood, the street shape in addition to a 2.5m difference in height give the impression of a small provincial town. In fact, the curve of the Gustave Geoffroy street gives this execeptional site several constraints that have to be used to generate a well-integrated project to its urban fabric.

Unboxed – 100% recycable prefab wooden house in Polignano a Mare Town, Italy by Barberio Colella ARC

Description: “Unboxed”, designed by Micaela Colella and Maurizio Barberio, is the wooden transposition of the typical characters of the Mediterranean house, as a valid alternative to masonry or frame structure buildings. The house is think to be placed in the beautiful town of Polignano a Mare, Apulia. The high standardization of the modules and their total prefabrication, allow to study various solutions easily. This goal is achieved by splitting the building in several basic structural elements designed to be mounted with all the finishes and without thermal bridges. The house is 100% recyclable. It is also completely removable – thus movable – thanks to an innovative foundation made of steel, which allows to reduce or eliminate the excavation. A low inclination roof on the top (5%) allows the installation of solar roof tiles (Tegosolar technology), capable of producing electricity and heat. The house has a clear division between the living and the sleeping area with a glazed corridor/entrance in the middle: a journey in the nature, able to re-establish the contact with the surrounding environment (flow of time) at each passage.

The reorganization of the Center for Hydro-geology and Environmental Geology Survey’s campus includes several different interventions in 2 phases: phase 1 comprises of a 2-storey canteen and activity center building and the renovation of the doorman house, while phase 2 includes a 10-storey laboratory building and the refurbishment of the office building facade from the 1980s.

Izakaya Kinoya in Montréal, Canada by Jean de Lessard

For its latest Kinoya, interior designer Jean de Lessard has tapped into the sources to emulate in his design the primary spirit, function and aesthetics of the izakaya[1], as the latter was originally an informal place where people drank beer and sake. The transformation is particularly unusual that it explores through extreme design  intimacy in relationships between people, making of Kinoya a true representation of the unique approach the designer has developed about the different ways of occupying a space.
