Sunday, July 7th, 2013

Article source: Agence Bernard Bühler

The project involves the construction of 12 townhouses in Bordeaux. It is at the end of a narrow street, near the banks of the Garonne.
The houses are divided into two buildings. This allows both to sequenced the facade on the street and leave the possibility of having an access to the rear plots in anticipation of their future development.
The houses have each an individual entry and two parking spaces in the building. On the ground floor of all dwellings, are the parking, pantry and entrance. The other levels are organized in floor night (bedrooms, bathrooms) and floor of life (living room and kitchen).

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: ALA ARCHITECTS

Käännös’ grows from the dynamic between the site and the goals of the library program. The interplay between the building’s three individual floors is the key concept of the entry. The public plaza in front of the building will continue inside, merging with a catalogue of meeting and experience features. The ground floor will be a robust, busy and frequently updated space suitable for quick visits and walkthroughs. The active, zero-threshold public spaces will be visible, attractive, understandable and welcoming to all visitors.

Taichung City Cultural Center Competition Entry in Taiwan by Williamson Architects

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: Williamson Architects

DESIGN STATEMENT
“The primary space is, by default, the plaza space defined by the awe of the water walls.
There is however no sub-ordinate space. All have their peculiar qualities.
All are challenging the accepted norm, contradicting pre-conceived and naturally occurring ideas of structure.
This built form is only the start of the adventure.” Brad Williamson (Architect)

Pellegari in St Pierre du Mont, France by Agence Bernard Bühler

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: Agence Bernard Bühler

You might say there was nothing original about an estate made up of small timber-clad houses in the heart of the Landes. And yet the road that leads to it is strewn with fragments of the so-called “built environment”:unfinished estates that seem to begin and end nowhere, streets that are too wide, roundabouts, and low-lying houses whose walls are rendered in colours that beggar definition.

Jean Lurcat High School Gymnasium in Saint-Denis, France by Mikou Studio

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: Mikou Studio

Jean Lurçat Collège in Saint Denis is at the junction of two basic fabrics: one landscape and one cityscape. An area of scattered low-rise detached housing which is unstructured but constitutes the neighbourhood’s identity and presents a friendly human scale on Rue Diderot and Rue d’Alembert. The Parc des Sports which opens onto the La Courneuve landscaped park and provides the school with an open perspective and a strong link with green spaces and gardens of the city. The school is both in the middle of nature surrounded by greenery and very near to the low-rise housing around it.

Article source: Maison Edouard François

In the heart of Colombo, Sri Lanka, a lot surrounds a historic British-colonial building. In this country, density is not limited and the program quickly takes on an exceptional scale: 450,000 m² are planned for offices, apartments, a hotel, a cinema, and a commercial center. The challenge becomes how to successfully create such a massive program adjacent to a historic monument.
