  • We envisage a university with a clear and independent identity, standing out as a distinctive landmark in Reykjavík.
  • We envisage a university which respects its unique location in the landscape and adds value and character to the area.
  • We envisage a university which is flexible and receptive to future changes, yet characterised at the same time by a clear, well-planned structure, with a defined centre to act as its heart and hearth.
  • We envisage a university which promotes innovation and the sharing of knowledge and which distinguishes itself on the international stage.
  • We envisage a university which embraces variety and openness, and will become a prominent factor in Reykjavík’s social and cultural life.
  • We envisage a university which lives up to its name as a UniverCity.
  • We envisage a university with the students at its heart.

Article source: Henning Larsen Architects
More projects by Henning Larsen Architects

Siemens’ new headquarters is an urban, recognisable composition of plazas, courtyards and alleys that will unfold a new, vibrant urban space in central Munich. Siemens and Munich are integrated into a harmonious whole by merging two archetypal entities – mass (Siemens) and void (Munich) – into a complementing formation. The city opens up the mass, which in response opens up to the city.

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2000 in London, UK by Zaha Hadid Architect

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Article source: Zaha Hadid Architect
More projects by Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid’s structure radically reinvented the accepted idea of a tent or a marquee. It took the form of a triangulated roof structure spanning an impressive internal space of 600sq metres by using a steel primary structure. A folding form of angular flat planes extending to the ground gave an illusion of solidity while at the same time creating a variety of internal spaces.
