Article source: Kubota & Bachmann Architects

The Park Hotel is located in a strategic point in Heiden, where different urban conditions come together: The landscape  continuity crossing the plot area, the particular building density and its relevant position from the main entrance to the city. Those realities are shaping the final proposal, in order to achieve a perfect urban integration, enhance the environment qualities, and make city, within the strict respect of urban regulations.

Eurostars Book Hotel in Munich, Germany by Rieder Smart Elements GmbH

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Article source: Rieder Smart Elements GmbH

The fibreC glassfibre reinforced concrete facade of the Eurostars Book Hotel in Munich is part of a marvellous design idea. The architecture of the building tells its very own story of books as cultural objects. Every floor reflects a literary genre, whereas rooms and corridors are dedicated to famous works. Rieder’s ingeniously formed facade elements represent the turning pages of books, whilst also providing protection from direct solar exposure. A specially developed process allows for manufacturing glassfibre reinforced concrete as round moulds, making individual facades, like the book pages of the Eurostars Book Hotel, possible.

ME Hotel opens in London by Foster and Partners

Tuesday, March 5th, 2013

Article source: Foster and Partners

The triangular site of the ME Hotel on the corner of Aldwych was once the home of the Gaiety Theatre, which was damaged during the war and demolished to make way for an office development. Completing the grand sweep of buildings that make up the 1920s crescent, the new scheme repairs the urban grain and restores a little lost glamour to the heart of the West End. The project, which is due to open in summer 2012, is the first flagship hotel in which everything, from the shell of the building to the bathroom fittings, has been designed by Foster + Partners – the result is an elegant fusion of interior and exterior design that signals a new contemporary approach for London’s boutique hotels.
