Article source: LEESLIST & Leejae Architects

Korean talented young architect Leejae announced new project called Lighthouse Residence as below.

This house is a detached house, size of 148.76㎡, built in Ilsan, Gyeong-gi Province.

General floor plan for three-member-family consists of the main living room, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one dress room, kitchen and a workshop; a detached house of 148.76. This house, so called a Light – House, represents the characteristic of owner’s occupation. The land condition for this Light-House was created by land division of about twenty-house-size. Five houses are already completed, and others are currently under construction. Light-House is aims for something higher than a physical housing where you simply eat and sleep; it pursues co-existing of nature and humanity through continuous relationship via interior and exterior of the building. Predicting this region to be crowded with houses in a near future, Light-House is designed to protect owner’s private life from others’ eyes. The three land sides that are touched by other residents’ are equally divided so that they can be entirely surrounded by the exterior wall of the housing. For the last side, an open view of whole window is installed towards the beautiful landscape, created by the thorough design of terraced heights of the housing complexes. Moreover, in accordance with owner’s lifestyle, Light-House is designed for the frequent use of outdoor space in warm seasons. We hope our residents to have a peaceful and protected space where you can enjoy your rest in an outdoor space and courtyard, separated from others’ view.

Ultramodern Casa Son Vida in Mallorca, Spain by Marcel Wanders studio

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Article source: Marcel Wanders studio

Roots are attached to tradition but trees are directions to the future.

The first full residential project of Marcel Wanders, the 850m2 residence embodies Marcels’ vision in each of its curved corners. The conversion and extension of the Mediterranean sixties villa, gave birth to a friendly meeting between old and new. The subtle mix of classical and modern references is visible through the entire villa, from the classic profiled wall lining the curved space to the newly custom designed cupboards in straight yet classic lines. A unique atmosphere emerges as space is turning into a playground for reliefs and surfaces. House of contrasts and love between past and present, Casa Son Vida is “unavoidably exuberant and unabashedly outrageous.”

Wohnhaus in Rechberg, Germany by K_m Architektur

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Article source: K_m Architektur

The location alone of this single family home in Rechberg, with a clear view of the surrounding is quiet spectacular.

The property is located on the slope of a green meadow. A floating design and the use of natural materials using concrete, copper, glass and wood as structural material characterize the single family home. Besides the structural members that establish contact with the ground, the rest of the house is constructed out of wood.

Barton Street in Queensland, Australia by Shaun Lockyer Architects

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

Article source: Shaun Lockyer Architects

The Barton Street project involved the conversion of a turn-of-the-century character home in Bardon into a twenty-first century contemporary family home. The design of the house focused on maximising the sense of volume, space and connection to the environment in a functional but also poetic way. A rich palette of stone, timber and concrete offers a modern counterpoint to the historic fabric that drew the clients to the house originally.

Yan Lane in Victoria, Australia by Justin Mallia Architecture

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

Article source: Justin Mallia Architecture

Yan Lane is a new street in Richmond. Undertaken on a small budget, this scheme was conceived as an opportunity to use architectural understanding to drive a development project to meaningfully infill an otherwise ignored space and to achieve financial return. The project involved the subdivision of a narrow sliver of land with no street frontage and hidden between the rear face of shops to the south and the backyard fences and sheds of houses to the north. Yan Lane is primarily the creation of a new building incorporating two houses but reaches beyond the scope of the small site to include the extension of services infrastructure from the main road and the recreation of a right of way to form a new street. The project creates an activated, human place from what was previously disused and neglected.

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

Article source: Inhouse Brand Architects

What can only be described as the ultimate “man cave”, Inhouse Brand Architects has converted the unused lounge area of a Fresnaye residence into an industrial-inspired dream pad for the family’s lucky teenage boy and his friends.

Taking into account the youngster’s various interests such as skating, surfing and socialising, the Inhouse team aimed to create a trendy, multifunctional space. The project was steered by Creative Director Aidan Hart, and senior designer Jenine Bruce, who chose a modern industrial aesthetic for this youthful interior.

“House in Irino” in Miyazaki, Japan by Takeshi Ishiodori Architecture

Tuesday, December 6th, 2016

Article source: Takeshi Ishiodori Architecture

It is a house built in Aya-cho, Miyazaki Prefecture, which has the largest evergreen forest zone in Japan. There were three conditions on the premises.

1) There are restrictions on color and form because it is within the landscape area.

2) The traffic volume is high along the main road.

3) Leave a wonderful cherry tree on the site.

While fulfilling these three conditions, I aimed for a house that melts while giving stimulation to the cityscape.
