Casa Lote 31 in Mirandela, Portugal by ADOFF – Architects

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015

Article source: ADOFF – Architects

Located in a context of urban expansion of a residential area of Mirandela, this lot had a set of well-defined rules, regarding deployment, volumetric and clearances. Given this, the design quickly developed into a compact and linear volume, organized on a square base plant, 11×11, where are drawn two floors.

House in Lubliniec 2, Poland by Dyrda Fikus Architekci

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Article source: Dyrda Fikus Architekci

The building is situated on a small 510m sq. plot, among a densely built-up residential area of  detached houses.

The residential street where the proposed house is located is of eclectic character. The formal and stylistic chaos of individual buildings is in opposition to the spatial order of the street. This divergence influenced the design concept, which favored the spatial context over the formal one, ie. it was more important to match to the order of the street (compact shape, emphasized building line, proportions of the edifice) than the form of the building itself. Regardless of it, the new house will always be just the next component of the existing stylistic chaos.

Article source: Neostudio Architekci

The purpose of the project was the rearrangement of an existing house, characterized by a multiplicity of levels of the interior. It has up to 5 levels, with 90 m2 of the living space. The significant problems of this system were: communication nuisance and low penetration of natural light inside the residential space. The project was focused on natural light exposure improvement and bringing into it a high-quality artificial light as well as facilitation home program by moving the existing functional system. Ascetic design and bright colours of the interior made it possible to emphasise the experience of openness space.

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015

Article source: Paul Raff Studio Architects

Situated on a narrow lot in a leafy neighborhood, Counterpoint House is a lofty, light-filled home for a family of four.

After immigrating to Toronto from Europe, the family searched extensively, but could not find a house they wanted to live in.

They then engaged the architect Paul Raff, and discussed their wish list: open, interconnected living spaces with a strong sense of connection to the garden, trees, and sky. The clients wanted a home that would seamlessly enhance a family’s experience of working, studying, playing music, cooking and dining together.

House in Benicassim, Spain by Egue y Seta

Saturday, May 30th, 2015

Article source: Egue y Seta

Removing unnecessary partitions, annexing circulation spaces to premises with a practical function and pursuing a direct visual connection with the exterior, are altogether strategies commonly employed when achieving a feeling of spaciousness is required within confined spaces. This formal discourse, that seems to be commonplace ever since the “lofts” became overly popular, does not exhaust its potential benefits when applied within the context of larger homes. Proof to this is the latest comprehensive renovation project tackled by Spanish interior design studio Egue y Seta, on a house of 300m2 in the town of Benicassim on the coast of the sunny province of Valencia.
