Pelicano House in Cariló, Argentina by Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Saturday, May 30th, 2015

Article source: Estudio Galera Arquitectura

The project was designed around a specific design problem:  to satisfy functional, aesthetic, and semantic needs.

The house, situated on a 1032 m2 corner lot in the city of Cariló, is lifted above the natural terrain level due to the low height of the terrain and the area’s restrictions on modifying the natural topography. This creates an indirect link -visual rather than functional- between the house and the lot.

4 PATIO HOUSE in Tacubaya, Mexico City by Andrés Stebelski architect

Friday, May 29th, 2015

Article source: Andrés Stebelski architect

Located in the old district of Tacubaya in Mexico City, this house employs a contemporary language in an attempt to reinterpret the use of patios.

The floor plan can be read like a chessboard, alternating solid volumes and open patios; but since the design of the house is all in glass, the space is conceived as one: the inside becomes the outside and vice-versa.

OVD 919 in Cape Town, South Africa by SAOTA

Thursday, May 28th, 2015

Article source: SAOTA

Brief:

The Brief was to create a spectacular home which encapsulated the expansive 360 degree mountain and sea views.  Though views out were paramount this needed to be carefully balanced with the required privacy from within.  The living areas were to be open plan – enhancing everyday life.  “The architecture needed focus on creating a contemporary, uncluttered and sculptural building,” said Tamaryn Fourie, senior associate and project team member.

House of 8 Gardens in Cuernavaca, Mexico by Goko MX

Wednesday, May 27th, 2015

Article source: Goko MX

“Smart Living”. The luxury of rest.
Today we live in an accelerated manner within the city. Quality of life is measured by luxury rather than experience. On this basis we opted for a practical and sincere architecture to respond to our customer needs, prioritizing internal open spaces naturally lit. Less square meters built allowed a better construction cost, less resources and greater interaction with nature.

Our goal was to create a house and relaxing experience of absolute rest and to contribute to a better environment improving life quality.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2015

Article source: Takeshi Shikauchi Architect Office

This is a house in the urban city using wood.

It is getting more and more difficult to use wood for housing in the city. We see wooden houses but it costs a lot of money for disaster prevention and maintenance.

HOUSE 37m in Hohenems, Austria by Juri Troy Architects

Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

Article source: Juri Troy Architects

37 metres long is the single-family home that lies in the Rheintal of Vorarlberg in between the woods and water meadows. The slender and lengthy shape is a product of the property boundaries and makes for a straightforward exception among the neighbouring structures. The floor plan is organised as a sequence of spaces that allows for a practical arrangement of all the ancillary rooms and eventually leads to the generous and open living and working spaces.

RM House in Mar de Ajó, Argentina by Alric Galindez Arquitectos

Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

Article source: Alric Galindez Arquitectos

The Pampa and the sea are known for being extensive and horizontal landscape whose limits are diluted in the horizon. The house stands in the diffuse border where both landscape interact. Understanding its physical location, the house tries to experiment with both landscapes consequently thinking of a common area with visuals towards both the sea and the Pampa´s landscape. Reinforcing the idea of focusing on both landscapes and considering the needed shelter towards the constant northern winds and southern storms, the interior spaces are organized responding to these conditions. The terrace on the sea side has no roof, in order to capture sunlight and the terrace on the country´s side has one in order to shelter from the sun and area´s dominant winds.
