CW apartment in Trento, Italy by BURNAZZI FELTRIN ARCHITECTS

Friday, November 10th, 2017

Article source: BURNAZZI FELTRIN ARCHITECTS

CW apartment is located in an area on the south part of Trento, a green and rural cameo nestled inside the urban pattern. The flat is set in a new row house surrounded by fields mostly of which are apple orchards. Nearby a farm house, from the end of the nineteenth century, together with some one storey single family houses, recently built, marks out a low population density area. The furnishing project concerns both the day area and the night one, set on the same level: the ground floor. The family, which consists of three members, expressed to the designers the double need to stay with family, cooking or relaxing, and to share convivial moments with many friends during the weekend; the dining table and the kitchen are situated on the best windowed side of the apartment: the one towards the garden. The custom made furniture of the day area creates an efficient and versatile space, flexible to the different living needs; the fireplace, visible from all of the day area, designs an intimate space, relaxing and cozy.

Family House In Ljubljana, Slovenia by Prima d.o.o.

Friday, November 10th, 2017

Article source: Prima d.o.o.

This home for a family of four is situated on the north side of a small park. The park borders on a kindergarten and an elementary school which stand next to a lively food market, all located in a dense urban area in the northwest part the city of Ljubljana. The main reason why the site was not yet developed was its size which is just a little over 300 m2. The site and building regulations demanded a very (site) specific scheme. The living quarters and the garden are placed on the top (terrace) floor of the villa and not on ground floor as one would expect. The end result is a hybrid between a modernistic town house (villa) and a terrace apartment with a rooftop garden, opening towards the park on the south.

A rooftop gem in Haarlem, the Netherlands by AHAA en Studiospacious

Thursday, November 9th, 2017

Article source: AHAA en Studiospacious

After a characteristically steep climb to the former storage attic of this building you enter in the heart of the loft.

With the removal of the suspended ceiling, height is gained and the beam for lifting goods from the street is made visible – a traditional and distinctive element in the completely modernised apartment. By making an open floorplan, a free height of over 3.2 meters and an uninterrupted wooden herringbone floor, the narrow and deep apartment is turned into a light, continuous space.

Tilt-Shift House in Los Angeles, CA by ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

Thursday, November 9th, 2017

Article source: ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

The project site for this 2,100 sf residence is a 3,750 sf ascending northwesterly facing parcel with panoramic views towards Los Angeles’ Silver Lake Hills and Reservoir. The residence is situated adjacent to multiple significant mid-century modern homes, including William Kesling’s Vanderpool and Wilson Houses, and the Allyn Morris cantilevered duplex. Due to the adjacency of these neighboring properties and the lack of natural open space available as a result of the limited size and extreme slope of the site, a series of plan shifts were generated to create numerous exterior living spaces within the volume of the residence.

Expo III MF Apartment in Lisbon, Portugal by João Tiago Aguiar, arquitectos

Thursday, November 9th, 2017

Article source: Tiago Aguiar, arquitectos

The apartment in question is located in Parque das Nações area in a contemporary building.

Although having relatively spacious compartments it really didn’t properly exist a sense of unity between the parts of the apartment. The social area was too partitioned and the existence of different materials in a relatively small space generated a space with lack of fluidity. The stone in the entrance hall and living-room as well as the tiles in the kitchen and in the bathroom created a too dated and cold atmosphere. The idea was to unify as much as possible the atmosphere of the apartment in order to dilute its limits. This concept gained shape with the implementation of a single pavement in cement that would link all the spaces.
