Thursday, October 5th, 2017

Article source: JAMELO ARQUITETURA

The house is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood in the south of the city of São Paulo, very close to a beautiful square widely used by local residents. Embedded into an urban lot, the residence is composed by a single volume that has been placed in the frontal part of the terrain leaving room for a large rear garden. Apart from the pedestrian entrance, by the street there’s only a parking spot for two cars and, behind a side green wall, the small uncovered service area.

Octopus [House in Dubai] in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by STIPFOLD

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

Article source: STIPFOLD

The glass house is condensed with multiple rooms of various functionalities and in order to balance the busyness, it is executed with minimalist approach. Transparent walls convey a sense of unity of internal areas, as well as wholeness with the external space and amplify the contrast between hot climate and the cool interior. For achieving a privacy in a single room, it may be skirted with remotely controlled white panels, spread with simplified oriental ornaments. Shadows cast by these traditional outlines augment the particular character of the house.

Casa Ploner in Renon, Italy by MESSNER ARCHITECTS

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

Article source: MESSNER ARCHITECTS

The project consists in the partial demolition and new erection of an existing but never completed house from the mid-nineties on the company’s plot. The conversion includes the overhaul of the offices in the ground floor and the construction of an apartment in the first and second floor with a roof-deck. The removal of the gabled roof, the demolition of all partition walls and the modification of the existing apertures made way to redefine a new volume, which would match with the client’s agenda.

Franca House in Brasília, Brazil by BLOCO Arquitetos Associados

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

Article source: BLOCO Arquitetos Associados

The Franca House is located in na urban plot in one of the residential areas in Brasília, Brazil, called Lago Norte (North Lake). Here the recent low in the rent prices and the estabilization in the prices of the land have favoured a change in the neighborhood´s dwellers profile. The settlement of young families with children besides the occupation of the houses by new residential programs such as student shared houses have increased the density of inhabitants. In our view this transformation creates a new opportunity to reactivate the idea of the house as an extension of the city and vice-versa, which is a way of seeing the public space that was usual for the families that lived there in decades before. Therefore the fundamental idea of the project was to create a strong possibility of connection between the public space (the street) and the private space (the house).

La Fontaine in Polanco, Mexico by Sobrado + Ugalde Arquitectos

Wednesday, October 4th, 2017

Article source: Sobrado + Ugalde Arquitectos

Located in one of the most sought-after areas of Mexico City we were given the task of designing a department of 216 m2 just delivered and newly remodeled. The first thing we did was to open large spaces of light and double heights, since the department was very dark, had wasted spaces, corridors and small rooms, leaving many wasted areas; these things are exactly what you should not have a department of this level and cost, so we took on the task of minimizing the circulations and provide the best experience of moving from one space to another.
