Passive House Che in SUCEAVA, ROMANIA by Tecto Arhitectura

Wednesday, January 21st, 2015

Article source: Tecto Arhitectura

The challenge was to create a simple, sustainable, two-storey unit that would fit into a special site: a mature forest inside  a northern romanian city. Form and Building orientation are designed in order to maximise the use of natural daylight and south orientation. To achieve this, the chosen specific site for implementing the volume was on the upper part of the property, gently blending on the slope of the terrain, with great views over the entire forest and the horizon landscape.

SIP m3 House in Santiago Metropolitan Region, Chile by Ian Hsü, Gabriel Rudolphy (HSU•RUDOLPHY Studio)

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Article source: Ian Hsü, Gabriel Rudolphy (HSU·RUDOLPHY Studio)

Aim

The project was to build a 155 m2 house in a very limited time frame, and with a reduced budget. In response we decided to use an efficient construction system and a simplified palette of finishes.

We designed a structure completely based on SIP panels (structural insulated panels), supported on a grid of foundations that intervene minimally in the existing terrain.

Vivienda García by Marta Gonzalez Architects

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Article source: Marta Gonzalez Architects

García housing is designed from two main white stone volumes that fly over another one.
Access to housing is produced by the ground floor through a double height lobby. In front of the lobby there is a glazing courtyard with a garden inside, that allows you to see the outside swimming pool. This courtyard is the element that separate the double height living-room and the dining room. At the left side of the lobby there is a wood stair with flown steps and it is accompanied of a interior garden fully lighted through the skylight. This garden confers a degree of humidity allowing greater comfort inside.

NHRV house in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina by FILTER ARHITEKTURA

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Article source: FILTER ARHITEKTURA

Emerging under same socio-economic parameters as majority of houses in Bosnia and Herzegovina- within a small budget, an underdeveloped construction industry, deregulated urban planning conditions and chaotic building permit bureaucracy- house NHRV tries to subvert the banal reality of contemporary House and Nation Building in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H). It challenges the status quo of contemporariness, by being an extraordinary response to its immediate and wider context through inherently ordinary means.

PERGOLA in West Coast by APOLLO architects & associates

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Article source: APOLLO architects & associates

The client asked us for a house with a sense of openness, as seen in the Case Study Houses in West Coast of the United States. The site is situated at the back of a parking lot rented out on a monthly basis, and we decided to provide no openings on the exterior facades to protect privacy. The house has a simple L-shaped plan, built around a covered entrance courtyard in the center, to decrease the construction cost. The covered courtyard, also used as an entrance approach, serves as an intermediate space between inside and outside.
