Friday, January 2nd, 2015

Article source: michael jantzen studio

The Oak Tree Ring House is a new kind of interactive place in which to live. It was designed specifically for a temperate climate. The structure consists of a large circular steel support frame in the form of four concentric rings that radiate out around a large oak tree planter in a central open courtyard. There is an array of solar cells mounted around the perimeter of the courtyard that are used to supply the electrical and hot water needs of the house.

Fujigaoka T in Kanagawa, Japan by ChikaraOhno / sinato

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

Article source: ChikaraOhno / sinato

This project is a home for a family of three in one unit of a twenty-six year old apartment building.

Although the previous ceiling height was a uniform 2450mm, after checking the structural drawings we realized that the existing height was the minimum required due to the placement of a services pit above, with the slab actually much higher in places, so we proceeded in planning the layout considering this height.

Tsubomi House in Tokyo, Japan by FLAT HOUSE

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

Article source: FLAT HOUSE

This house is very tiny.

Footprint of this house, including the biscuit shop that is part of the house, is only 26m2. The entire house is divided into seven split levels without partitions and all levels are connected by a staircase situated in the middle of the house.  From the shop on the ground floor, this metal staircase connects the kitchen and the dining on 1.5 level, then the living space on 2 level, and finally the sleeping area on the top floor that is shared by all family members.  A second set of concrete steps continue from the ground floor to the basement, housing the shop and its bathroom.

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

Article source:  THOMAS GOUWS ARCHITECTS + INTERIORS

The house is situated on a golf coarse in a residential estate in Gauteng, South Africa. The brief called for a contemporary minimalist house that provided security and privacy, while exploiting the golf coarse views. The site is exposed to extremely windy conditions year-round and protected outdoor living areas were a necessity. A priced collection of antique Cape furniture and contemporary art also needed to be a displayed.

UV house in Italy by OASI architects

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

Article source: OASI architects

UV house is an project for a young couple, conversion of an old industrial building into a modern urban villa.

The client asked to create a new floor for bedrooms inside the shape of the actual building. Our aim was to preserve the power of the void that space suggested to us.

The concept was simple: a floating slab set into the existing walls that keeps the huge void under it. We made it in concrete.

Casa Francavilla in Modica, Italy by Studio GUM

Wednesday, December 24th, 2014

Article source:  Studio GUM

Modica, like other historical centers of the Val di Noto, owes its special urban configuration to the uncommon nature of the area, combined with the various phenomena of human activity. Many of the homes found in the old part of town are attached homes, and are often an extension to the ancient caves, inhabited since prehistoric times.

House P in Cluj-Napoca, Romania by 49Studio

Wednesday, December 24th, 2014

Article source: 49Studio

This project has begun as a dream of a young and active family. We tried our best to provide a solution for a project that wanted to be more than a house, a home that offers it’s owners the capacity to disconnect from the busy lifestyle of a big city. Situated in close vicinity of the city Cluj-Napoca, the house uses common architectural elements that intersect with clear accents of modernity.

BALINT HOUSE in VALENCIA, SPAIN by FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

Article source:  FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

A privileged place within a golf course near to Valencia is the starting point of this project.

The proposal is drawn with elliptical traces which contain the program and maximize the possibilities of local urban law by minimizing the volumetric impact on the site. Thus, a piece with a continuous façade that seems to lodge only one floor is set on the site. The aerodynamic visuals of it guide the eye towards the deepness of the neighbouring landscape.
