Article source: Oscar Gonzalez Moix

The premise in the development of this project was always keep the visual into the bay and keep the horizon present in every area of the house. We should place the functions so the spaces will connect visually, the transparency should be the primary axis of the first floor.

A very small apartment within a very “Milanese” building dated 1900. Two rooms plus a bath room, characterized by a narrow footprint compared to the quite high ceiling. Windows, doors, and above all the floor tiles, had finishes and materials survived to another century: something precious to save as a resource for the new inhabitants of this space.

Carroll House in Venice, California by Dimster Architecture

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Article source: Chibi Moku

This renovation of a single family home in the historic Venice Canals presented the opportunity to reimagine the house. The ground floor was reorganized to an open plan, allowing all rooms access to the view and outdoor spaces. A new wood deck fronting the canals includes an open fire pit and custom benches and planters. The deck and ground floor at the same elevation, serving to extend the living room space to the outdoors, accessible through a triple sliding glass door. The upstairs bedrooms are remote and quiet, with the master bedroom enjoying a private deck also overlooking the canals. In re-organizing the floor plan, a new stair was designed, cantilevering from a wall with no apparent structure, further emphasized by the suspended glass guardrail. The home captures the distinct character of the canal district and its unique personality.

Article source: y+M

Location of the house is Yonago-city Sanin area at the foot of Mt. Daisen which has national park.

This area has much rain throughout the year. In winter it blows a chill northwest wind and it snows a lot. The site is on a hill. So the scenery is wonderful but it gets the strong afternoon sunlight.
