Rolling Homes in Svencelė, Lithuania by DO architects

Saturday, December 6th, 2014

Article source: DO architects

Summer never ends in the rolling homes of Svencelė. These dynamic and playful houses reflect the relaxed atmosphere of their seaside location as well as the progressive and dynamic people who will choose to call them home. The noticeable form of each rolling home facilitates a clever plan layout over three surprisingly efficient levels. Transparent facades allow for uninterrupted views of the surrounding canals and ensure a strong connection, both visual and physical, between the occupant and nature. The closed sides of the buildings, however, maintain privacy among neighbours. Internal space and natural light are maximised by the expanding cylindrical volume of each house. All of the required conveniences for an exclusive modern lifestyle are provided in the eye catching rolling homes, which combined with their stunning natural location create a desirable place to live.

TETON RESIDENCE in Jackson, Wyoming by Dynia Architects

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014

Article source: Dynia Architects

Located near the foot of the Teton Mountains, the site and a relatively modest program with a desire for intimate scale, led to placing the main house and guest quarters in separate buildings configured to form outdoor spaces. With mountains rising to the northwest and a stream cutting through the southeast corner of the lot, this placement of the main house and guest cabin distinctly responds to the two scales of the site. The public and private wings of the main house define the exterior space to the northwest, which is visually enclosed by the prominence of the mountains beyond. At a more intimate scale, the garden walls of the main house and guest cabin enclose the entry court to the south east.

HOUSE AND STUDIO YC in Barcelona, Spain by Real Time Architecture

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014

Article source: Real Time Architecture

The building is situated in the center of the plot, respecting the limits for construction and plot ratio.

The house rises as a single body. Its shape is influenced by physical and morphological conditions and by the program.

The initial idea of the project is to expand the building up inside the parcel and surrounding existing trees in order to preserve the maximum possible trees; later the shape was adapted to the program, to acquire the final setting.

Silver Bay home in West Coast, South Africa by SAOTA

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2014

Article source: SAOTA

“The brief was to create a holiday home for a young family that could be enjoyed by an extended circle of friends and family. The house needed to create an internal environment that maximised the connection with the view, minimised views on neighbouring buildings and created sunny wind free outdoor living spaces,” says Greg Truen, Project Partner.
