Tuesday, May 29th, 2018

Article source: Wallflower Architecture + Design

Our clients wanted to build their dream house; a house that would be their definitive family home. It had to have an urban presence, while having an open yet secure exterior space with sufficient privacy from the street. With a no expense to be spared mandate, the architect was given a large wish-list that included a 6-car garage and a 25m long pool.

Maison T in Hanoi, Vietnam by NGHIA-ARCHITECT

“If we consider the whole street as a lively symphony that mesmerizes people with its rapidly rhythm, then the house would be a rest creating that small but soulful gap, just enough for people to drown into the life’s melody”.

Article source: Sio2 arch

This house belongs to a set of projects developed by Sio2 that reformulates the type of the single family house through landscape integration. In these works, we experimented with roofs as organizing systems and we avoided the traditional role of facades as compositional mechanisms.

Busan Times in South Korea by Moon Hoon

Monday, May 28th, 2018

Article source: Moon Hoon

Although I am afraid that if I call it the owl, it will continue going by this nickname and it will be regarded within this context, I would nevertheless like to call it the owl. If you look at the building from the roadside, you may associate the shape formed by the angles of the setback regulation that has now been abolished with big head and two eyes.

Floating House in Vancouver, Canada by ARNO MATIS ARCHITECTURE INC

Monday, May 28th, 2018

Floating house captures Vancouver’s “West Coast Fusion”: a contemporary mix of eastern and western influences fused with indoor/outdoor living. This highly innovative private residence designed by Arno Matis breaks new ground with an architectural concrete envelope that uses a completely unique white concrete mix custom developed exclusively for the project. The composition appears to float on a large reflecting pool set within an oriental garden setting. Large expanses of glazing and sliding doors are framed in mahogany and screened with a dynamic architectural wood screen. The interiors flow with cascading floor slabs and dramatic volumes as unnecessary partitions are removed to create interior ‘exhibition’ spaces. The minimalist interior finishing details include stone slab floors, a suspended main stair of steel and hardwood; floating ceilings; and suspended custom fireplace, including a glowing onyx fireplace feature in the Master bedroom.

Urban Dock in Bordeaux, France by Hamonic + Masson & Associés

Monday, May 28th, 2018

Article source: Hamonic + Masson & Associés

The Bassins à flots are a 162 ha niche site, a high-quality port and manufacturing district for which Bordeaux City Council has development plans. Nicolas Michelin’s instructions are to create a link between the site and the horizon and to build on the metaphor of the factory, warehouses and the navy.

Our project is very industrial in that it is solid, compact and metal-clad. There is the occasional raised element, one 9-storey building jutting up like a periscope. That is what the project is all about: putting together a serene skyline and creating an urban form similar to a village at ground level, with footpaths to maintain a feeling of wilderness.
