Diagonal House in Victoria, Australia by Simon Whibley Architecture

Friday, July 31st, 2015

Article source: Simon Whibley Architecture

This was a lucky site.An access lane along one boundary, the treed grounds of a school along another, ensured that the rear northern outlook, which lay diagonally across the site, would be preserved from any future redevelopment. In an inner urban setting, it is not always wise to rely on aspect when conceiving of a design. In this case it made sense to embrace it.

Single Family Housing Correnteza 21 in Lisboa, Portugal by HUMBERTO CONDE

Friday, July 31st, 2015

Article source: HUMBERTO CONDE

This intervention seeks to maintain only the two main existing facades of the building, at North and East, given the high degree of deterioration of the overall volume. Although the existing building is not a remarkable architectural example and with construction quality, contributes to the cohesion of the urban image of the set to which it belongs, so the maintenance of facades allow the continuity of the dialogue between the building and the context in which it operates.
