Article source: I.R.A./International Royal Architecture

GEH house is located on the main street of Kodaira-City, Tokyo.

Our challenge was to design a wide comfortable space on which enough sunlight pours, in the small site surrounded by tall buildings but west side.

Suntro House in Oaxtepec, México by JORGE HERNANDEZ DE LA GARZA

Saturday, June 14th, 2014

Article source: JORGE HERNANDEZ DE LA GARZA

The Suntro House is located in the residential area of Oaxtepec, Mexico among delightful natural surroundings, with the natural slopes of Tepozteco to the north and the highway leading to Haciendas de Yautepec to the south.  The lot is oriented to the northeast with a splendid view of Tepozteco. The sunlight falling on this white volume creates striking images produced by the whimsical movements of shadows and reflections.  Even in the height of summer, the responsive shape promotes cool interiors by allowing a continuous circulation of air while maintaining a presence that optimizes the potential of its setting. The exposed concrete floor creates a sense of continuity between interior and exterior of the building. The uneven topography was utilized by placing the pool at street level and lowering the house at midlevel.

Friday, June 13th, 2014

Article source: Atelier Data

The Varatojo House is placed on a Hill, east from the city of Torres Vedras, Portugal.

Set in a polygonal configuration plot and given its sun exposure (predominantly North/South) and also its main Northern wind direction, the design strategy began by considering the following issues:

Promoting relationship between building and landscape, taking advantage of the place’s overlooking position over the city, castle and surroundings.

 by I.R.A./ International Royal Architecture

Article source: I.R.A./ International Royal Architecture

A two-floor residence with a basement in the cozy town of Setagaya-ku,Tokyo.

It has a half-basement free space which can be a child room in the future, the living, the kitchen, and the dining room in the middle floor, and the private space in the second floor. In spite of its restricted premise, it makes the residence so spacious by connecting these floors with voids which run through the entrance hall and above the kitchen, respectively. Furthermore, the integrated 180mm-thick LVL beams make 6m of a column-less second floor slab possible.

PL2 House in Punta Lago, Mérida, Yucatán, México by Seijo Peón Arquitectos y Asociados

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

Article source: Seijo Peón Arquitectos y Asociados

This house’s terrain has a singular geometry, also is located in front of a lake, which is found southwestward. The fact that the best potential views are generatedtowards such a complicated orientation for sunlight at this latitude, results in a volume that opens to the environment but is protected to the sun incidence, generating a volume and a very special personality.

ALDEA HOUSE in Mérida, Mexico by Seijo Peon Arquitectos & Asociados

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

Article source: Seijo Peon Arquitectos & Asociados

The site of the house is in front of a golf course. On our first visit to the site was remarkable the amount of native trees that were in the field. As a first request to our client we asked for a detailed topographic study of all the trees in the site. From the beginning we intended to respect all the trees. Once we had the study in our hands, we faced a notable challenge… the possibility of keep all the trees, at least all of the medium and large size, assumed significant complexity. After studying multiple alternatives with conventional layouts (U shape, L shape, in two or three volumes, etc…) we figured out that in all cases we would have to cut an important amount of trees.
