Maison de Chateaubriand in Quebec, Canada by ANIK PÉLOQUIN ARCHITECTE

Tuesday, February 11th, 2014

The environment of this former stationmaster house has radically changed in recent decades. On the west side, the railways have given way to a big park with trees that have since matured. On the east side, there is now a suspended highway that cuts through the city. The renovation and expansion of this property fits into this transformed context.

Article source: Aamer architects

We have a long relationship with the Client. The project we did for them in 2001 is next to this house where we divided a bungalow plot into two separate but identical houses which won the prestigious Singapore Institute of Architects’ Design Award in 2004. That was ten years ago and recently they acquired the plot next door with the intention of building another home so altogether they have three houses for themselves and their two grown up sons and their future families.

House by Fabian Evers Architecture & Wezel Architektur

The unusual task and the difficult building site was at one hand a big challenge but on the other a big potential. The owner requested a workshop for his Unimog and a small residential unit. The site is located directly next to a street with heavy traffic and is surrounded by small private houses and farm buildings. A crucial parameter was the very tight cost frame.

Tuesday, February 4th, 2014

Article source: Robert M. Gurney

Located in Cabin John, Maryland, this 4,900 square foot house is sited at the end of a manicured lawn, and looks over the edge of a steeply sloping wooded site adjacent to the C&O Canal and the Potomac River.  A light-filled double height circulation axis separates the house’s main volumes, while transverse axes further organize the spaces. Glass and steel bridges cross the circulation space to connect the volumes on the second floor. Primary living spaces bounded by large expanses of glass are oriented towards the river, while secondary spaces open to the lawn.
