Casa crisp is the transformation of a modest 1.5 bedroom brick veneer cottage into a light-filled, environmentally inclusive home for a young family of 6.

The original cottage has been transformed into a modern beach house with a sophisticated interplay of natural materials and considered volumetric arrangement. A rectilinear timber form now sits atop the original brick veneer podium keeping much of the existing dwelling intact.

Gunung Sahari House in Jakarta, Indonesia by WEN Urban Office

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

Article source: WEN Urban Office

Gunung Sahari House is located in an urban high-density area in Central Jakarta on a 3-by-30-meter strip of land located between an existing house owned by the client’s family and the main access street to the site. The architects are asked to design a single-occupancy house that includes all of the basic amenities and a studio space. While the site is strategically located within the community with easy access to public transportation and facilities, the site’s unique shape and narrow access point bring several challenges to the design process from determining spatial placement of programs to planning the construction process.

House Over The Olive Trees in Valencia, Spain by Gallardo Llopis Arquitectos

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

Article source: Gallardo Llopis Arquitectos

A parcel with irregular edges and a steep slope, enthroned upon a broad range of terraces sustaining a large amount of middle-aged olive trees. Over the horizon, the unspoiled views of a valley… the house as a place to relax and unwind, maybe even isolate yourself from the world… an oasis.

This project respects the modulation of the existing terraces and olive trees, standing as a lookout over the tops of these. The landscape scenery is to be perceived as the ideal place, almost in a romantic way. Therefore, the proposal is born from the pursuit of a place from which to admire the vast valley and distant mountains, taking advantage of the natural inclination of the land.

Casa Siena in Sitges, Spain by Guillem Carrera

Wednesday, October 11th, 2017

Article source: Guillem Carrera

The site is located in an urban residential low density area surrounded by natural green areas near the sea. A large part of this sector is composed of plots with significant slopes.

The observation of the site and immediate surroundings and distant highlighted that most of the houses that were built or being built in the area followed the same premise: place it in the top of plot – filling the land where the buildings are located, through the widest possible cross-volume, leaving the rest of the site as a garden with difficult use and difficult relationship with the living spaces. Resulting in a disproportionately large number of houses, that are not integrated with the environment.

Stratum House in Kyunggi, Korea by stpmj

Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

Article source: stpmj

Stratum House seeks a new way of concrete casting method simulating a geologic formation. Concrete works in a combination of cement, water and aggregate. Cement is mixed with water to form a paste, and its properties are strengthened together with aggregates. These pastes wrap and fill aggregates of various sizes and become hardened. The project started with a curiosity of concrete composition, its casting process, and reaction on the results from testing the changes of its constituents.

Kyomachi House in Shiga, Japan by HEARTH ARCHITECTS

Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

Article source: HEARTH ARCHITECTS

This house is located along old streetscape in “Minakuchi-juku”, which is one of Fifty-three stages of the Tokaido.  Although, it was consolidated during the Edo Period. The community road and the space are narrow, so it’s impossible to make large space between the road and the house, and it’s difficult to build a house in the southeast in spite of the corner location in the northeast, which is good site location. So, I arranged inner garden in southeast. In doing so, I not only solved the problem point concerning the ground, but also made rich living climate.
