House in Nichinan, Japan by TAKESHI ISHIODORI ARCHITECTURE

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: TAKESHI ISHIODORI ARCHITECTURE

A wooden house of the box type built in Nichinan-shi, Miyazaki.
Control of its eyes was a problem because there was an unmanned railroad station on the south side.
A living room was established in the 2nd floor and the eyes from a home in the station were exchanged.
Though the exterior material was simple as urethane painting finishing in the material as \”wrap siding\” which came into fashion before, I aimed at the symbolic outward appearance from location as the house built in front of the station.

House F in Tainan City, Taiwan by URBANWASABI

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Article source: URBANWASABI

This renovation project is surrounded by highly populated residential area and open view of urban green. At the beginning, we discovered existing structural issues, and started design process to untangle structural requirements alone with architectural programming simultaneously. To provide an uninterrupted circulation, the center staircase was relocated and allowed generous, looped path to access second floor via original staircase.

Compact Karst House in Vrhovlje, Slovenija by dekleva gregorič arhitekti

Saturday, December 13th, 2014

Article source: dekleva gregorič arhitekti

The region of Karst was once covered with Oak trees that Venetians have extensively used for building up the City on water. They have left the wind to peel off earth revealing limestone grounds. In this landscape the tradition of small, compact, stony and almost windowless houses developed and remained until today.

Nagasawa Dental Clinic in Tokyo, Japan by Kunihiko Matsuba (TYRANT Co.,Ltd.)

Saturday, December 13th, 2014

Article source: Kunihiko Matsuba (TYRANT Co.,Ltd.)

The buildings look like a set of building blocks piled up to the brink of collapsing, but they do not fall down even though it seems like they could at any moment.

They consist of a dental clinic and a house, which were built in a residential area in a suburb of Hachioji—a city located in the western part of Tokyo. The building site was previously a field, and we planned to construct a dental clinic,a house, a garage for two cars, and a parking lot for seven patients’ cars at the site, which was spacious enough to accommodate all these structures and provide a comfortable working and living environment.

Tree House in Austin, Texas by Matt Fajkus Architecture

Friday, December 12th, 2014

Article source: Matt Fajkus Architecture

Balanced shade, dappled sunlight, and tree canopy views are the basis of the 518 Sacramento Drive house design.  The entry is on center with the lot’s primary Live Oak tree, and each interior space has a unique relationship to this central element.

Composed of crisply-detailed, considered materials, surfaces and finishes, the home is a balance of sophistication and restraint. The two-story massing is designed to allow for a bold yet humble street presence, while each single-story wing extends through the site, forming intimate outdoor and indoor spaces.
