Villa Poorkan in Chalous Road, Iran by ZAV Architects

Friday, April 13th, 2018

Article source: ZAV Architects

The Poorkan villa used to be an abounded building. Our clients (Mojdeh Ghodousi and Ali Kamran) decided to build a villa on their inherited land. Instead we encouraged the proposition of renovating the existing building on the on.

We intended to recycle the space, in order to bring it back to the cycle of useful, contemporary spaces.

White Concrete Old House in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria by I/O architects

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

Article source: I/O architects

Prior to its reconstruction, this house from the 1920s was a romantic ruin surrounded by authentic and new-built fragments of ancient Augusta Traiana and rather isolated from the contemporary city, yet in its very center.

The intervention continues the game of time offsets and brings the design to a contemporary interpretation of the avant-garde, at the time the house was built.

A new volume of white concrete complements the structure and the program of the old house. The composition of the openings, the ambiguous elements of the addition and the materiality blend the two distinctive entities. The space of the new stair and its design bring light into the center of the entire composition. The new glossy white concrete slabs integrate and conceal all the contemporary technology of the house.

HOUSE H-The house with plants in Katsushika City, Tokyo by KAMAKURA STUDIO

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

Article source: KAMAKURA STUDIO

The house before rebuilding had stayed in the shadow because the location that had been surrounded by many buildings had been bad.

That’s why the room hadn’t got much sunlight, and the potted plants that had been outside had been losing their energy in the dimly-lit place.

So we started designing the best places for plants with the owner who loves plants.

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

Article source: Jin Seok Yang(Y GROUP)

The 2nd house; A well screened and well opened house?; Yeoju House.

It’s a ‘separated yet bonded’ house where three generations live together. It’s a home for a grandmother in her 70s, a father in his late 30s and his daughter in the 1st year of middle school. The old house didn’t have a proper room for the father, so he had to live in a company dormitory. But now the father has returned home and is living in a new house with his family. Allowing the three generations to live under the same roof, this new house is a happy home for them.

Slow House in Ulsan, South Korea by KDDH

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

Article source: KDDH

The Slow House located in the Innovation city in Ulsan is situated in the rectangular site with 8 meters-width road at the northwest side facing the foot of Mt. Hwangbang. Since it is expected that there will be a lot of car traffics and mountain climbers, it is necessary to design a plan which protects user privacy. Therefore, the design was started with the intention of separating a private area with a public area. First, the shape of the mass was decided as a form wrapping the space and embracing the mountain. And, the lower part of the piloti resulting from the form of the mass is used as a buffer zone where the private area and the public area are separated.

Wednesday, April 11th, 2018

Article source: marià castelló · architecture

Bosc d’en Pep Ferrer is the traditional toponym of a large plot located next to the beach of Migjorn, on the south coast of the island of Formentera. This territory has a place that unleashes the desire to inhabit an oneiric view, where the horizon is only cut by the beautiful silhouette of the Pi des Català Tower, built in 1763.
