Hover House in Victoria, Australia by Bower Architecture

Tuesday, July 15th, 2014

Article source: Bower Architecture

Hover house is a residence in beachside Mt. Martha (Victoria, Australia) which re-imagines the single dwelling courtyard. Site on a rear battle-axe block with minimal outlook, privacy or street frontage, the project brief was for a tranquil, sustainable and private home filled with natural light, warmth and texture. In response, the concept sought to create a captivating internal focus in the form of a private central courtyard, providing a strong link between key spaces. In order to maximise natural light and privacy a simple sectional gable shape was extruded through the east-west axis of the house, resulting in a form that efficiently collects rainwater, incorporates sustainable passive systems and emphasises views to distant gum tree canopies.

WANKA HOUSE in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Estudio Galera

Tuesday, July 15th, 2014

Article source: Estudio Galera

Wanka House is a vacation home thought of as a place where things happen and as a playful space where family and friends meet to relax… this does not mean, however, to be quiet.

The house, which is set a hundred meters from the sea in Cariló – a seaside town 400 km from Buenos Aires city-, is nourished and inspired by the landscape. This is why the brief took full advantage of the views of the surroundings and the optimal sunlight where the plot is situated.

House LB in Piura, Peru by Riofrio + Rodrigo Arquitectos

Tuesday, July 15th, 2014

Article source: Riofrio + Rodrigo Arquitectos

The house is located in northern Peru, near the equator, in the city of Piura. Intense heat is an important factor when designing for this area. This particular external characteristic impacts how the home’s inhabitants use conventional spaces. We observe that the terrace is the most important social environment so we made it the protagonist of the design by moving its location to the center of the house. The entrance of the house invites you right back outside by leading you to the terrace, and as an afterthought the garden and pool. You can find the more traditional living room and dining rooms on the flanks of the terrace, as if containing it.

House on the line of the horizon in Wrocław, Poland by Kabarowski Misiura Architekci

Saturday, July 12th, 2014

Article source: Kabarowski Misiura Architekci

A house which is on the borderline. On the verge. On the line of the horizon. It is a white, horizontal hyphen between the blue and the greenery.

It is a suburban, detached villa with an intriguing contour and perfectly white, smooth walls. The edges of the roof were outlined with a robust line and three parts of the building readjusted one against another were optically connected in one. Huge glazing added some lightness to a compact mass and enabled the sunlight to permeate the interiors.

Ocean Park House in British Columbia, Canada by CAMPOS LECKIE STUDIO

Saturday, July 12th, 2014

Article source: CAMPOS LECKIE STUDIO

This project is conceived as a domestic landscape that blurs the boundary between interior and exterior space in a temperate coastal rainforest climate. It is essentially a ranch house typology with a guest house stacked upon it – designed for a physically active empty nest couple who enjoy the idea of welcoming family home for the holidays. The domestic program is spread across the entire site, across a series of stepped platforms, and the vertical vertical circulation connecting the main floor to the upstairs is deliberately understated.

Article source: LANDMAK ARCHITECTURE, JSC

The new urban Gamuda Gardens Township is invested and constructed by Gamuda Land Vietnam LLC. This interior project is designed and constructed like show houses as per the Company’s request. ST House is such typical point.

The luxury and warm interior design is requested to meet demand of most Vietnamese families in particular and South East Asia in general (the Client target is that at least 70% of visitors become interested in design). Therefore, personal characteristic, special solutions, and natural materials should be removed and replaced by loose furniture which creates the simple and reasonable sense.

Parure House in Victoria, Australia by Architects EAT

Saturday, July 12th, 2014

Article source: Architects EAT

The Parure House (that is, a set of jewellery to be adorned together at once) is an exercise in abject darkness versus stark light; the compact crossed with the open, and closeted privacy against unabashed experiences of the exterior environment.

Amidst the need to maximise space and storage ‐ requiring full expansion to the boundaries of the land, windows (and also facade) were almost left to the wayside. Internal volume was the constant throughout the design. Punctuations in the external building fabric articulate the interior with strong exterior connections, even in such localised context.

This project sets out to explore the physical and tactile language of building materials. Using timber as the basis we explored how particular materials responded to touch, sight, sound, weight and patina; while investigating and interpreting their interaction with natural lights and shadows.

One-Story House in the City Montreal, Canada by Anik Péloquin architecte

Thursday, July 10th, 2014

Article source: v2com

There are a few one-storey houses in almost every residential Montreal neighborhoods. They house single families and stand out from the dense setting from the beginning of the 20th century. This 900 sq.ft.-house is located at the corner of 2 busy streets in Ahuntsic. The size of the property and tight budget did not make it possible to build an extension. The interior was therefore reconfigured to fit a third room and meet the needs of this family of 4.
